Semarang, November 28, 2025, as part of the commemoration of National Electricity Day with the theme “PLN Transformation Towards Green”, PT PLN Indonesia Power UBP Semarang together with PT PLN Indonesia Power successfully held an environmental action titled “Planting Mangroves, Protecting the Coast”.

This activity was a real effort that also supported the commemoration of Indonesia Tree Planting Day (HMPI) and the Mageri Segoro Program in Central Java. The planting action also involved collaboration with the Conservation Sub-Directorate of Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), whose pillars include the conservation of Natural Resources and the Environment.

The event involved the active participation of approximately 250 participants, consisting of employees of PT PLN Indonesia Power and PT PLN Indonesia Power UBP Semarang, representatives from relevant agencies of the Central Java Provincial Government, representatives of the Akar Banir Foundation, students and teams from the UNNES Conservation Sub-Directorate, and students from SDN 2 and 3 Tugurejo.

Together, the participants planted 10,000 mangrove seedlings in the coastal area as a massive effort to strengthen coastal protection and prevent abrasion.

The main series of activities consisted of a Mangrove Planting Ceremony and visits to the planting sites around the fish ponds, followed by a visit to Tirang Beach. The participants—especially students from SDN 2 and 3 Tugurejo—also took part in interactive sessions including games and environmental education, assisted by members of the Green Community.

Speeches were delivered by stakeholders supporting the implementation of this event:

  • The first speech was delivered by Mr. Johan Kurniawan, Operations Manager of PT PLN Indonesia Power UBP Semarang.
  • The second speech, which also officially opened the event, was delivered by Ms. Eni Lestari, S.T., M.T., Head of the Natural Resources Infrastructure Bureau (ISDA) of Central Java Province.

The event concluded with an Appreciation and Award Session:

  • Prizes were given to participants who won the interactive and environmental education sessions.
  • Awards were also presented by PT PLN Indonesia Power UBP Semarang to the teachers of SDN 2 and 3 Tugurejo in commemoration of “Teacher’s Day.”

It is hoped that what has been planted will grow strong and provide benefits for the coast, the community, and future generations.
