As a state university with legal status, UNNES PTNBH has a vision of “Becoming a World-Reputable University and a Pioneer of Conservation-Minded Educational Excellence”. UNNES is committed to realizing a conservation-minded campus and is ready to implement various programs that support the implementation of this conservation insight.

One of the programs implemented by UNNES every year since 2011 is the “National Student Conservation Essay Writing Competition”. The number of essay competition participants each year is always more than 500 essay titles, indicating that this essay competition is in demand by students from all over Indonesia. In 2024, the number of essay competition participants reached 1,368 students, from 124 universities, both state and private. Participants in the 2024 conservation essay competition broke the highest record since the competition was held in 2011, both in terms of the number of participants and the number of universities from which they came. Specifically, articles from UNNES students in 2024 also reached the largest record, namely 1,032 manuscripts.

The 2024 conservation essay assessment process involves 17 competent lecturers in their fields, with a duration of 10 days. The jury conducts an assessment to determine the 1st, 2nd, 3rd Grand Champion, and the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th Runners-up. The Grand Champion and the Runner-up will receive prizes in the form of coaching funds and championship certificates. Furthermore, the jury also conducts a selection to determine the next 12 best articles, so that 20 best articles are collected. The 20 best essay articles will be published in the form of the 2024 Conservation Essay Book with ISBN. The authors of the 20 best articles will receive a special certificate and the 2024 Conservation Essay Book. All participants in the Conservation Essay Competition will also receive a participant certificate which will be sent to their registered email.
