The international community service program, titled “Developing a Data-Driven Civil Engineering Ecosystem at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Shah Alam Through the Integration of Machine Learning and Open Scientific Datasets,” was held from June 10-12, 2026.
This included a series of activities, including presentations and training for students and lecturers, implementation of an agreement with UiTM and the IIESM research group, collaboration for joint publications, student inbound and outbound activities, and tree planting, all of which represent the University’s efforts to improve the achievement of the SDGs (SDG 4, SDG 13, SDG 15, and SDG 17).

The presentation, “Machine Learning for Building Energy Prediction in Civil Engineering” (Courtyard Design x Tropical Climate – Open Scientific Dataset), was well-received by students and lecturers from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Shah Alam. This includes SDG 4 (Quality Education). The event continued with the signing of an implementation agreement between Semarang State University (UNNES) and Mara Technology University (UiTM), as a form of shared commitment to strengthening their long-standing partnership, which is also included in SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
At the conclusion of the series of international community service activities, a team of lecturers from the UNNES Faculty of Engineering had the opportunity to implement a concrete action of the Conservation-Minded University by planting trees together. This is important because tree planting embodies character building that cares for the surrounding environment and concrete actions to protect it. Tree planting also falls under SDG 13 (Action on Climate Change) and SDG 15 (Life on Land).
