Jade To, mahasiswa asal Prancis, duduk di tengah mahasiswa semester empat Program Studi (Prodi) Ilmu Komunikasi di Ruang 405, Gedung C8, Sekaran, Gunungpati, Semarang. Ia memperhatikan jalannya kelas yang dibawakan dalam bahasa Inggris oleh dosen Ilmu Komunikasi, Himmatul Ulya.

Perempuan berusia 22 tahun itu mengaku tertarik dengan pengalaman perkuliahan pertamanya di Indonesia. Menurut dia, metode pembelajaran berbasis diskusi yang diterapkan memiliki kemiripan dengan perkuliahan di Prancis. “Ini hari pertama saya. Saya sangat tertarik, dan perkuliahan dengan diskusi mirip dengan perkuliahan di Prancis,” ujar Jade, Rabu (1/4/2026).

Jade To merupakan satu dari tiga mahasiswa asal Prancis yang mengikuti program magang akademik di Prodi Ilmu Komunikasi. Dua mahasiswa lainnya adalah Nathan Roux dan Loane Fumanal.

Kehadiran ketiga mahasiswa ini merupakan bagian dari kolaborasi akademik internasional yang melibatkan sejumlah institusi asal mereka, yaitu IUT de Paris Rives de Seine, Sciences Po Toulouse, dan Sciences Po Bordeaux.

Dosen Ilmu Komunikasi, Lukki Lukitawati, menjelaskan bahwa selama periode Maret hingga Agustus 2026, para mahasiswa menjalani magang secara langsung (on-site) selama delapan hingga 24 minggu di Laboratorium Terpadu FISIP dengan supervisi akademik.

Kegiatan yang dilakukan meliputi pengelolaan administrasi laboratorium, produksi film dokumenter bertema isu sosial, pengelolaan kegiatan berbasis komunitas mahasiswa, serta partisipasi dalam diskusi akademik dan program musim panas (summer school). “Salah satu mahasiswa, Nathan Roux, telah terlibat dalam produksi film dokumenter mengenai wayang potehi di Klenteng Ling Hok Bio, Kota Semarang,” ucap Lukki.

Program ini bertujuan memperkuat pembelajaran lintas budaya dan kolaborasi global. Selain itu, kegiatan ini juga mendukung Tujuan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan (SDGs), khususnya Tujuan 4 tentang pendidikan berkualitas dan Tujuan 17 tentang kemitraan global melalui pengalaman belajar internasional yang aplikatif dan berdampak.
