Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik (FISIP) Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) menggelar Symposium on Water Sustainability 2025 bertajuk “Bridging Past, Present, and Future” pada 22 Oktober 2025 di Aula Gedung C7 Lantai 3 FISIP UNNES. Acara ini secara resmi dibuka oleh Wakil Rektor I Bidang Akademik dan Kemahasiswaan, Prof. Dr. Zaenuri, M.Si., Akt., dan diikuti oleh akademisi, praktisi, serta mahasiswa dari berbagai universitas dengan total partisipasi 82 artikel ilmiah.

Simposium ini menghadirkan para pakar air dan lingkungan dari dalam dan luar negeri. Pada Keynote Speech Session 1, hadir Fany Wedahuditama (Executive Director Water Stewardship Indonesia – WSI) dan Dr. Jakkrit Sangkhamanee (Chulalongkorn University, Thailand) yang menyoroti pentingnya kolaborasi lintas sektor dalam mengelola sumber daya air secara berkeadilan. Fany Wedahuditama menjelaskan konsep Water Stewardship sebagai pendekatan berbasis partisipasi pemangku kepentingan untuk mencapai penggunaan air yang adil, berkelanjutan, dan bernilai ekonomi tinggi. Sementara Dr. Jakkrit menekankan pentingnya perspektif budaya dan sosial dalam memahami politik sumber daya air di Asia Tenggara.

Pada Keynote Session 2, Prof. Samsudin Anis, Ph.D. (Fakultas Teknik UNNES) memaparkan inovasi Atmospheric Water Maker (AWM), teknologi air-to-water yang mampu mengubah uap air menjadi air minum layak konsumsi. Teknologi ini dinilai mendukung pencapaian Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6 tentang akses air bersih dan sanitasi layak bagi semua, khususnya di wilayah rawan kekeringan dan bencana. Prof. Dr. Dewi Liesnoor, M.Si. (FISIP UNNES) melengkapi sesi dengan paparan tentang urgensi pendidikan konservasi dan literasi air bagi masyarakat, sebagai langkah membangun kesadaran publik terhadap keberlanjutan sumber daya air.

Selain sesi pleno, simposium ini juga menghadirkan delapan panel diskusi tematik yang mencakup isu-isu penting seperti Women’s Engagement in Water Usage, Water and Local Wisdom, Politics of Water Resources, Water, Disaster, and Climate Change, Water Sustainability, Water Access and Social Justice, Water History, dan Water and Environmental Education. Para peneliti mempresentasikan gagasan tentang kearifan lokal dalam pengelolaan air, peran perempuan dalam konservasi sumber daya air, hingga keadilan sosial dalam akses air bersih.

Melalui kegiatan ini, FISIP UNNES menunjukkan komitmennya sebagai Kampus Konservasi yang aktif mendorong kolaborasi ilmiah lintas disiplin dan lintas negara dalam isu keberlanjutan lingkungan. Symposium on Water Sustainability 2025 menjadi momentum penting untuk memperkuat peran akademisi dalam mendukung pencapaian SDGs, khususnya tujuan ke-6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), ke-11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), dan ke-13 (Climate Action).

Acara ini menegaskan bahwa keberlanjutan air bukan hanya persoalan teknis, tetapi juga sosial, budaya, dan politik, menuntut kolaborasi lintas sektor untuk mewujudkan masa depan yang lebih berketahanan dan berkeadilan bagi seluruh umat manusia.
