Sebanyak 91 mahasiswa dan empat dosen dari Program Studi Pendidikan Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial (PIPS) Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) melaksanakan kegiatan Kajian Fenomena Sosial I di Sekolah Air Hujan Banyu Bening, Yogyakarta, pada Rabu, 15 Oktober 2025. Kegiatan ini menjadi sarana pembelajaran berbasis masyarakat yang menekankan pentingnya konservasi lingkungan dan pelestarian kearifan lokal.

Rombongan disambut hangat oleh pendiri Sekolah Air Hujan yang memperkenalkan konsep “Sekolah dari rakyat untuk rakyat” — gagasan pendidikan komunitas yang memanfaatkan air hujan sebagai sumber kehidupan sekaligus simbol harmoni manusia dengan alam. Para dosen pendamping menyampaikan apresiasi atas sambutan tersebut dan menegaskan bahwa kegiatan ini selaras dengan semangat UNNES sebagai kampus konservasi. “Mahasiswa diajak untuk belajar langsung dari masyarakat yang menerapkan konservasi air secara sederhana, namun berdampak nyata,” ujar salah satu dosen.

Kegiatan dibuka dengan lagu Indonesia Raya, doa bersama, serta paparan singkat mengenai sistem pengelolaan air hujan di komunitas Banyu Bening. Mahasiswa kemudian mengikuti diskusi interaktif mengenai pemanfaatan air hujan, mulai dari proses penjernihan hingga penerimaan sosial masyarakat. Pihak tuan rumah menjelaskan bahwa keberhasilan konservasi air bukan semata hasil teknologi, melainkan juga buah dari kesadaran ekologis dan perubahan pola pikir terhadap alam.

Dalam sesi praktik, mahasiswa mempelajari tahapan terapi air hujan, meliputi penampungan, penyaringan, hingga uji kelayakan air. Mereka juga mencoba langsung air hasil olahan serta mempraktikkan penggunaannya dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Banyak mahasiswa mengaku takjub bahwa air hujan dapat diolah menjadi air bersih dan segar bila dikelola dengan pengetahuan yang tepat.

Kegiatan ditutup dengan foto bersama dan seruan “Salam Air Hujan, Berkah, Berkah, Berkah!” yang mencerminkan semangat kolaboratif antara mahasiswa dan masyarakat. Melalui kegiatan ini, mahasiswa UNNES tidak hanya memperluas wawasan sosial dan ekologis, tetapi juga menerapkan nilai konservasi yang menjadi ciri khas UNNES. Aktivitas ini sejalan dengan Visi Konservasi UNNES serta mendukung pencapaian Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), khususnya Tujuan 6 (Air Bersih dan Sanitasi Layak) dan Tujuan 13 (Penanganan Perubahan Iklim).
