SEMARANG, August 6, 2026 – A total of 210 Educational Technology experts gathered in Semarang on Thursday, August 6, 2026. The group comprised professors, lecturers, and students from 33 higher education institutions across Indonesia.
They convened in Semarang for the 11th Collegial Meeting of the Indonesian Educational Technology Study Program Association (APS-TPI) and the 2nd International Conference of the Indonesian Educational Technology Professional Association (IPTPI), held from August 6–8, 2026, at the Hotel Horison Ultima Sentraland.
The Educational Technology Study Program at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) served as the host for this annual event.
Event Committee Chair Dr. Yuli Utanto, M.Si., reported tremendous enthusiasm among participants, noting the presence of large delegations from various campuses, including Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ), Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA), Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), Universitas Negeri Medan (Unimed), Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP), Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), Universitas Negeri Malang (UM), Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha), Universitas Negeri Makassar (UNM), Universitas Negeri Gorontalo (UNG), and Universitas Negeri Manado (Unima).
“We are proud that Semarang has become a hub for collaboration between study program administrators and professionals in the field to advance national educational technology,” he said.
UNNES Vice Rector IV for Planning and Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Nur Qudus, M.T., IPM., emphasized that the primary challenge today is the speed at which curricula must adapt to developments in digital hardware and AI. He expressed hope that the event would generate tangible solutions for developing relevant learning media. “Our graduates must be capable of critical and creative thinking to fill strategic roles—such as instructional designers—that are currently in high demand within the industry,” he explained.
Echoing this sentiment, the Chairperson of APS-TPI, Prof. Dr. Andi Kristanto, S.Pd., M.Pd., stated that the meeting would yield several significant breakthroughs, including the standardization of the core curriculum in educational technology and the launch of a micro-credential program to facilitate off-campus learning for students.
“We are also launching three new reference books and strengthening collaboration regarding accreditation and the development of reputable international journals,” Prof. Andi added.
The event was officially opened by the Head of the Central Java Regional Research and Innovation Agency (Brida), Drs. Mohammad Arief Irwanto, M.Si., representing the Central Java Provincial Government. In his remarks, Arief noted that while digital technology and data analytics are transforming the way people learn, the role of the teacher as an inculcator of values remains irreplaceable.
“Technology must serve as a means to create effective and inclusive learning that reaches remote areas; however, ethics and humanity must remain the fundamental foundation,” he advised.
In addition to the academic conference, the event featured awards honoring inspiring figures in the field of educational technology and various national-level innovation competitions for students. Through this synergy, experts are optimistic that educational technology will become a key pillar in fostering an outstanding generation as the nation moves toward “Golden Indonesia 2045.”
