FIPP UNNES Lecturer Selected as Judge for International Choreography Festival in South Korea

Semarang, September 8, 2025 — A lecturer from the Faculty of Education and Psychology (FIPP) at Semarang State University (UNNES) has once again achieved a proud achievement. Dr. Deasylina da Ary, M.Sn., a lecturer in the Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program (PGSD), was selected as a member of the jury at the 20th Poong-Nam International Choreographer Festival held in South Korea. This achievement demonstrates the contribution of FIPP UNNES academics in supporting the development of arts and culture at the international level.
In addition to carrying out her duties as a judge, Dr. Deasylina da Ary also performed the Jejer Banyuwangi Dance solo. The performance was an opportunity to introduce the richness of Indonesian traditional dance to the international community. She also collaborated with South Korean musician Yushin Lee Solga through a work entitled “First Ocean” which was performed on August 29, 2025, at The Catholic Church’s Chimeyeongjasan, Jeonju, South Korea.
Participation in this international festival is a form of Indonesian academics’ participation in cross-border arts and cultural exchange. Through her role as judge and performer, Dr. Deasylina da Ary helped expand the appreciation of performing arts while introducing Indonesian cultural identity through dance works and creative collaborations.
This activity is related to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11: Sustainable Cities and Human Settlements, particularly in efforts to maintain and promote cultural heritage. Traditional dance arts such as the Banyuwangi Jejer Dance are part of the cultural wealth that needs to be preserved and introduced to future generations. In addition, this activity supports SDG 17: Partnerships to Achieve the Goals through cross-border collaboration between Indonesian and South Korean artists in creating joint works of art.
Through this achievement, FIPP UNNES continues to encourage the academic community to contribute to the development of arts, culture, and science at the global level. Participation in international festivals is expected to strengthen collaborative networks, increase appreciation for cultural diversity, and bring Indonesian art to greater international recognition.
