Untuk meningkatkan kualitas perguruan tinggi, Universitas Negeri Semarang  (UNNES) menyelenggarakan Focus Grup Discussion (FGD) “Pengembangan Penelitian: Strategi dan Inovasi Dalam Rangka Peningkatan Pemeringkatan”  bersama Dirjen Penguatan Riset dan Pengembangan Kemenristekdikti Prof Dr Ocky Karna Radjasa MSc, Jumat (7/9).

Dalam acara yang bertempat di Gedung Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian Masyarakat (LP2M) Prof Ocky menyatakan ada beberapa masalah riset nasional, seperti sumber daya manusia, manajemen riset, kelembagaan riset dan anggaran riset. Dirinya menegaskan perlunya peningkatan jumlah penelitian agar peringkat perguruan tinggi Indonesia semakin meningkat, padahal Indonesia kaya akan laboratorium alam.

Sedangkan Rektor UNNES Prof Dr Fathur Rokhman MHum menjelaskan dari tahun 2016 nilai pemeringkatan UNNES selalu mengalami peningkatan. Selain itu UNNES memiliki banyak prestasi kinerja, diantaranya menjadi institusi dengan jurnal terbanyak terindeks di Sinta, Perguruan Tinggi Nasional Unggul dengan Akreditasi A, peringkat 4 kampus hijau dalam UI Greenmetric, serta 53% prodi UNNES Terakreditasi Unggul(A).

Kegiatan yang diikuti 300 dosen UNNES ini ditutup oleh Dr Suwito Eko Pramono MPd selaku Ketua LP2M UNNES.
