Wikipedia Bahasa Jawa Kembali Diluncurkan

Beberapa perguruan tinggi berlomba dalam ajang kompetisi menulis di Wikipedia Bahasa Jawa Papat Limpad 2014. Sebelumnya, Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes) pada tahun 2011 telah didaulat sebagai tuan rumah untuk kegiatan serupa. Kompetisi tahun ini secara resmi dibuka di Unnes, belum lama ini.

“Saat ini kami baru melakukan pelatihan dari kampus ke kampus,” ungkap Sigit Adhi Wibowo, salah satu panitia kompetisi itu. Hadiahnya tidak tanggung-tanggung, uang senilai 500 Euro dan kesempatan mengikuti konferensi Wikipedia di luar negeri.

Selain Unnes dan IKIP PGRI Semarang, perguruan tinggi lain yang terlibat adalah Universitas Diponegoro (Undip), dan Universitas Indonesia (UI). Selain itu Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) dan Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM).

Sigit mengatakan, kompetisi dilakukan untuk meningkatkan jumlah artikel berbahasa Jawa di laman itu. “Supaya orang lain yang mencari referensi di internet tentang bahasa dan budaya Jawa akan semakin banyak menemukan artikel terkait,” kata alumnus Bahasa dan Sastra Jawa FBS Unnes itu.

Dalam kesempatan berbeda, pendiri Wikipedia Bahasa Jawa Revo Arka Giri Soekatno menyebutkan, pada 2012 ini terdapat 37 ribu artikel berbahasa Jawa yang dibaca oleh 12 ribu pengguna terdaftar. “Sayangnya, jumlah artikel dalam Bahasa Jawa tersebut masih menempati urutan ke-66 dari total 285 edisi bahasa Wikipedia di dunia di bawah bahasa lokal Ceko dan bahasa lokal di India,” ujar Revo.

Dia juga mengatakan, artikel berbahasa Jawa dan jumlah pembacanya akan semakin bertambah jika semakin banyak juga kontributor yang menulis di Wikipedia berbahasa Jawa ini. Hal itu dibuktikan dengan naiknya jumlah kontributor dari dua orang menjadi 44 orang pada kompetisi serupa yang diselenggarakn di Unnes tahun 2011- 2012. “Misi pelestarian pada bahasa yang memiliki penutur terbanyak urutan ke sebelas di dunia ini pun juga didukung Wikipedia US, Prancis, dan Indonesia,” pungkasnya.
