Wening Ati, Inovasi PKM-PM UNNES dalam Mendukung Kesehatan Mental Lansia

Perubahan kondisi fisik dan psikologis kerap menjadikan masa tua sebagai periode penuh tantangan bagi para lansia. Rasa kehilangan pasangan atau teman, kesepian, hingga kesulitan mengelola emosi sering membuat mereka merasa gelisah dan tidak berdaya.

Melihat fenomena tersebut, tim Program Kreativitas Mahasiswa-Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PKM-PM) Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) menghadirkan inovasi bertajuk “Wening Ati” sebagai upaya memperkuat welas asih diri (self-compassion) bagi kelompok lansia.

Program ini digagas oleh mahasiswa UNNES yaitu Pradana Satriya Utomo, Disrun Aji Prabowo, Walda Mu’tia Sari, Sandya Sarira Ayu, dan Muhammad Wafi Bahauddin Aiz, dengan pendampingan oleh Yogi Swaraswati, S.Psi., M.Si.

Kegiatan ini merupakan bagian dari dukungan terhadap Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) poin ke-3: Good Health and Well-being, yang didanai oleh Direktorat Jenderal Pembelajaran dan Kemahasiswaan (Belmawa).

Program Wening Ati menyasar kelompok lansia di komunitas binaan yang membutuhkan pendampingan emosional dan peningkatan kesejahteraan psikologis. Sebagian besar peserta mengalami kesulitan dalam mengelola emosi, mudah marah, serta mengalami gangguan tidur akibat beban pikiran dan rasa cemas.

Melalui pendekatan mindfulness, tim mengajak para lansia berlatih hadir penuh dan sadar akan diri melalui dua kegiatan utama, yakni latihan relaksasi pernapasan dan pelukan kupu-kupu, serta ekspresi emosi melalui teknik ecoprint.

Dalam sesi relaksasi, peserta diajak menarik napas perlahan, merasakan udara masuk dan keluar, kemudian memeluk diri dengan lembut dalam gerakan pelukan kupu-kupu. Latihan sederhana ini membantu mereka menenangkan pikiran dan membangun kesadaran bahwa ketenangan dapat tumbuh dari dalam diri sendiri.

Sementara itu, kegiatan ecoprint menjadi media ekspresi emosi positif. Para lansia mencetak motif daun dan warna di kain sebagai sarana refleksi diri. Proses kreatif ini tidak hanya menyenangkan, tetapi juga melatih pengendalian emosi dan meningkatkan rasa percaya diri.

Mbah Maria, salah satu lansia peserta program, mengaku bahwa latihan pernapasan dalam dan pelukan kupu-kupu membuat dirinya lebih tenang serta membantu mengatasi gangguan tidur. Hal serupa disampaikan oleh Mbah Eka yang merasakan manfaat latihan tersebut dalam mengendalikan diri saat menghadapi tekanan.

Latihan-latihan reflektif ini mendorong para lansia untuk mengenali emosi, mengatur respons, serta menerima diri dengan lebih penuh kasih. Secara bertahap, hal ini memperkuat rasa ketenangan dan meningkatkan kualitas hidup mereka.

Tim PKM-PM UNNES berkomitmen Program Wening Ati tidak berhenti pada pelatihan semata. Tim akan melakukan pendampingan lanjutan melalui pelatihan mandiri yang dapat dilakukan secara rutin oleh para lansia. Selain itu, modul latihan relaksasi dan ecoprint juga diserahkan kepada pengelola komunitas agar kegiatan dapat terus berlanjut secara berkesinambungan.

Melalui kegiatan ini, UNNES menegaskan perannya dalam mengembangkan inovasi sosial yang mendukung kesejahteraan masyarakat, sekaligus memperkuat komitmen universitas terhadap pencapaian SDGs poin ke-3: Good Health and Well-being. Program Wening Ati menjadi bukti nyata bahwa ketenangan dan kasih sayang terhadap diri dapat diajarkan, dipraktikkan, dan memberi dampak besar bagi kehidupan para lansia.
