UNNES Mendukung Dewan Pers

Usaha UNNES untuk melakukan pelaporan hukum terhadap ZA yang pernah menulis artikel pada sebuah blog mengenai tuduhan plagiarisme Rektor UNNES adalah usaha untuk membela kepentingan Dewan Pers. Melalui surat edaran 371/DP/K/VII/2018, Dewan Pers menekankan betapa pentingnya mengidentifikasi media yang legit dan tidak dengan menegakkan hasil keputusan Hari Pers Nasional 2010 di Palembang. Melalui surat edaran tersebut, Dewan Pers mengedukasi bagaimana cara menghindari pihak-pihak yang mengaku sebagai wartawan dan berasal dari media tertentu padahal belum tentu memiliki legitimasi. Dewan Pers telah menyediakan instrumen untuk memverifikasi media sekaligus wartawan. Media dicek menggunakan verifikasi faktual dan wartawan dicek menggunakan uji kompetensi wartawan.

Hal tersebut yang dijadikan panduan oleh UNNES. Oleh karena itu terdapat perbedaan yang jelas pada saat UNNES diwawancarai oleh tirto.id dan serat.id.

Pada saat tirto.id yang meliput mengenai plagiarisme dan UNNES merasa keberatan dengan pemberitaan tersebut maka UNNES menggunakan hak jawab. Karena tirto.id berbadan hukum dan lolos verifikasi faktual Dewan Pers, UNNES menghormati hak tirto.id sebagai bagian dari pers nasional.

Lain halnya dengan artikel yang ditulis pada serat.id. Sulit menemukan bukti bahwa serat.id memiliki status badan hukum dan juga serat.id belum terverifikasi oleh Dewan Pers. Terlebih lagi pada saat artikel tersebut muncul tanggal 30 Juni 2018, ZA belum mengantongi sertifikat UKW. Oleh karena itu, UNNES tidak menggunakan hak jawab karena tulisan ZA secara yuridis formil sulit dibuktikan sebagai produk jurnalistik.

Klarifikasi ini menolak anggapan bahwa UNNES tidak menghormati UU Pers dan Dewan Pers. Malah sebaliknya. UNNES turut mendukung usaha Dewan Pers untuk mengedukasi masyarakat untuk turut mengembangkan iklim jurnalistik yang sehat di Indonesia.

UNNES berharap Dewan Pers tidak tebang pilih saat menegakkan aturan verifikasi. Jangan sampai verifikasi Dewan Pers hanya digunakan sebagai formalitas belaka. Masyarakat yang menggunakan verifikasi tersebut sebagai panduan tentu tidak boleh disalahkan. UNNES menggunakan verifikasi Dewan Pers dengan niat luhur menjunjung profesionalisme Pers di Indonesia.
