UNNES dan Sogang University Dorong Pembelajaran Kimia Berkelanjutan

Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) bersama Sogang University Korea melaksanakan program pengabdian kepada masyarakat internasional melalui Leading University Project for International Cooperation (LUPIC) di Banjarmasin, Kalimantan Selatan pada 13 – 14 Agustus 2025.

Kegiatan ini melibatkan tiga perguruan tinggi mitra, yaitu Universitas Lambung Mangkurat, UIN Antasari Banjarmasin, dan Universitas Islam Kalimantan Muhammad Arsyad Al Banjari. Peserta kegiatan terdiri atas dosen, mahasiswa pendidikan kimia, dan guru yang tergabung dalam MGMP Kimia Banjarmasin.

Program diawali dengan penandatanganan Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) antara UNNES dan tiga perguruan tinggi mitra di Banjarmasin. Pada kesempatan tersebut juga dilakukan penyerahan tiga unit 3D printer dari Sogang University melalui UNNES yang akan dimanfaatkan untuk pengembangan laboratorium dan media pembelajaran di perguruan tinggi mitra.

Setelah prosesi MoA, rangkaian kegiatan pengabdian dilaksanakan. Prof. Dr. Edy Cahyono, M.Sc. membuka sesi dengan paparan mengenai pentingnya reengineering jalur sintesis kimia untuk keberlanjutan lingkungan. Dilanjutkan dengan lokakarya oleh Harjito, M.Sc. yang memperkenalkan integrasi Internet of Things (IoT) dalam pembelajaran kimia.

Peserta kemudian mengikuti praktik small-scale chemistry bersama Endah Fitriani Rahayu, M.Sc., Devy Lestari, M.Pd., dan Ridho Prasetyo, S.Si. yang menekankan pentingnya eksperimen laboratorium berskala kecil yang ramah lingkungan, aman, dan hemat biaya. Hari pertama ditutup dengan pelatihan Ethno-STEM oleh Prof. Dr. Woro Sumarni, M.Sc. yang memadukan sains, teknologi, dan kearifan lokal sebagai dasar pembelajaran kontekstual.

Pada hari kedua, 14 Agustus 2025, tim pengabdian UNNES dan Sogang University mengunjungi SMA Negeri 1 Alalak, Kabupaten Barito Kuala. Guru dan siswa mengikuti pelatihan kimia yang aplikatif dan menyenangkan.

Salah satu sesi paling menarik adalah pembuatan lilin aromaterapi ramah lingkungan dari minyak jelantah bertema “From Waste Oil to Wellness.” Selain itu, siswa juga mempraktikkan Life Skills Chemistry melalui eksperimen mikroskal sederhana yang menunjukkan relevansi kimia dalam kehidupan sehari-hari.

Kegiatan ini mendapat antusias dari seluruh peserta. Dosen Universitas Lambung Mangkurat menyampaikan bahwa kegiatan ini memperluas wawasan sekaligus menginspirasi pengembangan pembelajaran kimia yang lebih inovatif.

Guru MGMP Kimia Banjarmasin menilai lokakarya berskala kecil sangat bermanfaat karena dapat langsung diterapkan di laboratorium sekolah dengan biaya rendah dan tetap aman. Siswa SMA N 1 Alalak juga mengaku senang belajar membuat lilin ramah lingkungan dari minyak jelantah dan merasakan manfaat kimia dalam kehidupan sehari-hari.

Melalui program pengabdian internasional ini, UNNES menegaskan komitmennya sebagai universitas bereputasi dunia dalam memperkuat jejaring global, mendukung Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi, serta memajukan pendidikan yang inklusif, inovatif, dan berkelanjutan sesuai visi konservasi.

Program ini juga mencerminkan semangat Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), serta SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
