UKM Baksos Unnes Peduli Banjir Demak

Unit Kegiatan Mahasiswa Bakti Sosial (UKM Baksos) Universitas Negeri Semarang mengadakan kegiatan peduli banjir di RT 03 RW 05 Mijen Kabupaten Demak, Rabu (17/04).

Ketua RT setempat Muafiq mengatakan musibah banjir ini baru pertama kali terjadi di daerahnya. “Penyebab utama peristiwa ini adalah jebolnya tanggul penahan air yang ada di Sungai Wulan yang letaknya di perbatasan Kecamatan Mijen dan Mayong Jepara,” ujarnya.

Banjir tersebut, kata Muafiq, terjadi sejak Selasa (9/4) malam. Banjir menggenangi pemukiman warga Desa Mijen, Jleper, Ngelo Kulon, Pecuk, dan Rejosari. “Termasuk kantor Polsek Mijen, Kantor Dinas Pemuda dan Olahraga, Kantor BRI, beberapa sekolah, yang semuanya ada di Kecamatan Mijen,” katanya.

Muafiq menceritakan bahwa kronologi akan terjadinya banjir sempat diinformasikan sebelumnya sehingga warga disarankan untuk melakukan antisipasi . “Keadaan tanggul memang sudah tidak memadai dan hampir jebol,” ungkapnya.

Antisipasi banjir tersebut meminimalisir kerugian akibat banjir yang diperkirakan, sehingga warga segera mengemasi barang-barang berharga mereka.

Tak ada korban

Dalam banjir Mijen ini dipastikan tidak terdapat korban jiwa. Hanya hasil pertanian warga yang rusak dan ada salah satu bangunan sekolah yang atapnya roboh. Hal itu karena posisi sekolahan yang tepat berada disebelah Sungai Wulan yang tidak bisa menahan air.

Kedatangan Mahasiswa dari UKM Baksos Unnes dalam kegiatan peduli banjir tersebut disambut baik oleh warga. Barang bantuan dari mahasiswa Unnes yang terdiri atas beberapa kardus pakaian layak pakai, mie instant, makanan, alat kebersihan, juga uang hasil penggalangan dana UKM Baksos diterima dengan baik oleh ketua RT untuk kemudian disalurkan kepada warga yang membutuhkan.

Muafiq mengatakan sumbangan tersebut sangat membantu warga. Dirinya menyampaikan rasa terima kasih kepada mahasiswa Unnes. “Semoga musibah semacam ini tidak terjadi lagi,” harapnya.
