Tim FEB UNNES Raih Medali Emas di WECC 2024

Tim Fakultas Ekonomi dan Bisnis (FEB) Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) berhasil meraih medali emas di ajang World Economics Challenge and Competition (WECC) 2024 yang diselenggarakan pada 27-29 Juli 2024. Kompetisi internasional ini diselenggarakan secara daring oleh Indonesian Youth Scientist Association (IYSA) bekerja sama dengan Indonesia International Institute for Life-Sciences (i3L).

Kompetisi WECC 2024 merupakan ajang inovasi tingkat internasional dalam bidang Bisnis dan Ekonomi yang pertama kali diselenggarakan pada tahun 2024 oleh IYSA. WECC merupakan ajang untuk pengembangan keterampilan pembelajaran, kerja sama tim, berpikir kritis, inovasi, dan pemecahan masalah bagi para mahasiswa. Kompetisi ini diikuti oleh 25 tim dari berbagai negara, termasuk Indonesia, Bangladesh, dan Thailand.

Kategori yang dilombakan di WECC 2024 meliputi Rencana Bisnis, Produk Komersial, dan Makalah Penelitian. Tim dari Universitas Negeri Semarang maju dalam kategori Produk Komersial dengan mengembangkan inovasi berupa sabun semprot tanpa bilas dengan kombinasi nanopartikel perak dan ekstrak daging semangka putih.

Inovasi yang dikembangkan didasarkan pada penelitian yang menunjukkan bahwa 85% limbah cair domestik tidak diolah dengan baik. Inovasi mereka dalam menciptakan sabun semprot tanpa bilas dengan kombinasi nanopartikel perak dan ekstrak daging semangka putih diharapkan dapat menjadi solusi dalam mengurangi limbah air rumah tangga yang tidak terolah.

Proses pengembangan inovasi ini mencakup berbagai tahap, mulai dari persiapan awal, penelitian, distribusi kuesioner kepada responden, pengumpulan keluhan dan masukan, pencarian mitra, perencanaan lanjutan, hingga evaluasi bersama.

Kelima mahasiswa ini kemudian mengikuti sesi presentasi dalam bahasa Inggris setelah menyelesaikan proses penyusunan makalah pada Sabtu (27/7). Setelah melalui proses panjang, tim ini berhasil meraih Medali Emas, disusul oleh Universitas Brawijaya yang meraih Medali Perak, dan Dhaka College Bangladesh yang mendapatkan Medali Perunggu. Mereka juga mendapat penghargaan khusus dari Malaysia Young Scientist Organization (MYSO).

Tim terdiri dari Ahmad Hammam Burhanudin (Manajemen, 2020) sebagai ketua tim, Achmad Nauval Waliuddin (Manajemen, 2020), Hanina Humaira (Manajemen, 2021), Elma Yoencha Thine (Ekonomi Pembangunan, 2021), dan Siti Malikah (Pendidikan Ekonomi, 2021).

Mereka dibimbing oleh Sandy Arief, S.Pd., M.Sc., Ph.D.

Prestasi yang diraih oleh Tim FEB UNNES dalam WECC 2024 ini tidak hanya membanggakan universitas, tetapi juga menunjukkan keunggulan yang dimiliki oleh mahasiswa Indonesia dalam bersaing di kancah internasional.
