Tiga Atlet Mahapala Unnes Expedition Aconcagua Ditetapkan

Setelah dua bulan mengikuti serangkaian kegiatan training center harian, lapangan, dan beberapa tes pendukung lain, Tim Teknis Mahapala menetapkan  tiga orang dari enam calon atlet  Spirit of Indonesian Youth Expidition Part III (SIYE III) Mount Aconcagua, Argentina Rabu (11/9).

Tiga atlet itu yakni Miftakhul Ulum mahasiswa program studi (prodi) Pendidikan Teknik Mesin Fakultas Teknik (FT), Putra Tri Atmaja dan Hermawati keduanya prodi Pendidikan Luar Sekolah (FIP).

“Pendakian ke gunung Aconcagua tertinggi di Argentina ini akan dilaksanakan tanggal 14 November sampai dengan 8 Desember 2013,” kata Ma’rifah ketua panitia Expedition SIYE III.

Ma’rifah juga mengemukakan dengan terpilihnya Hermawati sebagai atlet, diharapkan Dia mampu melaksanakan amanah yang berat ini. Sekaligus kegiatan SIYE III ini menargetkan Hermawati sebagai Mahasiswa perempuan pertama yang mencapai puncak Aconcagua.

Selama pendakian, kata Ma’rifah, semua atlet harus siap dengan segala kondisi terutama cuaca sehingga sukses sampai puncak Aconcagua dengan ketinggian 6.962 meter di atas permukaan laut (6.962 mdpl) terus mengibarkan bendera Unnes dan bendera sang saka merah putih.

Sebelumnya, Mahapala Unnes juga sukses dalam ekpedisi pertama 2009 di gunung Kilimanjaro (5.895 mdpl), Tanzania, Amerika dan  ekpedisi kedua 2011 di gunung Elbrus (5.642 mdpl), Rusia, Eropa. Ini merupakan agenda 2 tahunan Unnes dan Mahapala, imbuh  Ma’rifah.
