Tesis dan Disertasi Mahasiswa PPs Harus Terpublikasi

Program Pascasarjana (PPs) Universitas Negeri Semarang mendorong mahasiswanya terus memublikasikan hasil penelitian di jurnal ilmiah terakreditasi. Selain telah menjadi kewajiban akademik, publikasi hasil penelitian akan meningkatkan kebermanfaatan penelitian bersangkutan. Pada titik tertentu, publikasi juga dapat mengokohkan kepakaran penulisnya.

Untuk menunjang langkah itu, lebih dari 500 mahasiswa PPs diberikan bimbingan teknis melalui Seminar Nasional “Publikasi Hasil Penelitian Tesis dan Disertasi pada Jurnal Ilmiah Terakreditasi”, Sabtu (7/12) di Patra Convention Hall. Prof Dr Ir Yusuf Sudo Hadi MAgr, peneliti dari Intitut Pertanian Bogor (IPB) dan Dr Sutikno MT, Kepala Perpustakaan Unnes, menjadi pembicara pada seminar itu.

Menurut Prof Yusuf Sudo, mahasiwa S2 dan S3 punya sejumlah “modal” agar artikelnya dapat terpublikasi. Pertama, ia mencontohkan, dorongan dari universitas yang sangat kuat. Kedua, atmosfer akademik di kampus kondusif.

“Selain itu, sejumlah lembaga memberikan insentif kepada para peneliti yang bisa publish. Ini tentu akan memotivasi,” katanya.

Meski demikian, ada beberapa kendala yang perlu segera diatasi. Salah satunya, kemampuan berbahasa Inggris mahasiswa dan peneliti di Tanah Air belum cukup memadai. Selain itu, menulis belum menjadi habitus para mahasiswa, pendidik, bahkan peneliti. Lebih dari itu, ada kecenderungan seseorang memublikasikan penelitiannya jika ada kewajiban.

Menurut Profesor Ilmu dan Teknologi Kayu itu menambahkan, sebelum memulai menulis dan mengirimkan artikel, penulis perlu tahu sejumlah proses prapublikasi. Tentang tipe jurnal, misalnya, penulis perlu tahu ada jurnal nasional terakreditasi, jurnal internasional bereputasi, tetapi juga ada jurnal yang di-black list.

Sementara itu, Kepala Perpustakaan Unnes yang juga dosen Jurusan Fisika Dr Sutikno MT mendorong mahasiswa untuk mengenali jurnal sasaran. Selain kesesuaian dengan bidang ilmu, menurutnya, impact factor juga perlu diperhitungkan.

“Periksa kesempatan Saudara untuk dapat publikasi di jurnal dengan impact factor tinggi. Caranya, Saudara dapat memeriksa directories di berbagai universitas, atau tanya rekan ahli,” katanya. Ia juga mengajak mahasiswa terus memanfaatkan jurnal internasional yang telah dilanggan universitas.

Terpisah, Rektor Unnes Prof Dr Fathur Rokhman MHum menilai, publikasi hasil penelitian adalah keniscayaan bagi para peneliti. Mengutip adagium “publis or perish”, profesor Sosiolinguistik ini mengajak mahasiswa PPs untuk terus meningkatkan frekuensi dan kualitas publikasi. Ia berharap, kepakaran para peneliti Unnes bisa mendunia melalui jurnal ilmiah.
