Teliti PKL, Eko Handoyo Raih Doktor Cumlaude di UKSW

Jangan sekali-sekali meremehkan para pedagang kaki lima (PKL). Mengapa? Eko Handoyo, dosen Fakultas Ilmu Sosial (FIS) Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes) memiliki jawaban komprehensif soal itu.

Tampil dalam ujian terbuka  di Program Pascasarjana Doktor Studi Pembangunan Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana Salatiga, Rabu (9/5), Eko mempertahankan disertasi “Eksistensi Pedagang Kaki Lima: Studi tentang Kontribusi Modal Sosial terhadap Eksistensi PKL di Semarang”.

“PKL memiliki modal sosial sebagai hasil interaksi di antara mereka di lokasi masing-masing, yakni di Sampangan, Basudewo, dan Kokrosono. Dalam interaksi itu, kepemimpinan dan jiwa pengorbanan tokoh-tokoh PKL menulari etos pengorbanan kepada anggota kelompok pedagang yang memungkinkan menguatnya sikap bertahan dan melawan kebijakan Pemerintah Kota Semarang,” ungkap lelaki kelahiran Pati, 8 Juni 48 tahun lalu itu.

Mengapa pula PKL di Semarang cenderung resisten terhadap sejumlah ke(tidak)bijakan Pemerintah Kota? “Resistensi PKL tidak lepas dari sikap traumatik mereka. Ada pengalaman buruk ketika mereka dipindah, sementara pada saat yang bersamaan mereka suda berada pada zona nyaman. Selain itu, komunikasi yang dijalin oleh Pemkot dengan PKL buruk bersamaan dengan tadak dilibatkannya mereka dalam pengambilan keputusan atas diri mereka sendiri,” papar Pembantu Dekan Bidang Akademik FIS Unnes ini.

Ujian dipimpin Prof Pdt John A Titaley ThD dengan anggota penguji Prof Daniel D Kameo PhD, Dr Gatot Sasongko, Dr Rukmadi Warsito, Dr Soegeng Hardiyanto, Dr Sri Sulandjari, dan Prof Dr Tri Marhaeni Pudji Astuti.

Dia akhir ujian, oleh komisi penguji, Eko yang juga sekretaris jenderal Ikatan Keluarga Alumni Unnes ini tidak hanya dinyatakan lulus, tetapi juga memperoleh predikat cumlaude.
