Teliti “Belian”, Fadly Husein Lulus Doktor dari Austria

Dosen Jurusan Sosiologi dan Antropologi Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) Fadly Husein baru saja menyelesaikan pendidikan doktoral dari  Medizinische Universitat Wien di Wina, Austria. Ia dinyatakan lulus setelah berhasil mempertahanan disertasi berjudul Medical Pluralism in West Nusa Tenggara Indonesia.

Melalui disertasi itu, Fadly meneliti pengobatan berbasis kearifan lokal dan fenomena praktisi pengobat tradisional atau belian di Nusa Tenggara Barat. Para belian adalah dokter tradisional yang memiliki kemampuan pengobatan tradisional berbasis bahan alam.

Karya ini diselesaikannya dengan bimbingan dari supervisor Prof. Dr. Michael Kundi dan Thesis Commitee Prof. Dr. Michael Frass. Dengan dipertahankannya disertasi di hadapan para penguji, maka Fadly Husain berhak menyandang gelar Dr. Scient. Med. (Doktorat Scientiae Medicae).

Dengan selesainya studi Fadly Husain, Jurusan Sosiologi dan Antropologi telah memiliki 4 orang doktor. Mereka adalah Moh Yasir Alimi, Ph.D (Antropologi Australian National University), Prof.Dr. Tri Marhaeni, M.Hum. (Antropologi Gender UGM), Dr. Thriwaty Arsal (Rural Sociology IPB), dan Fadly Husain, S.Sos.,M.Si, Ph,D (Medical Anthropology,Medizinische Universitat Wien).

Selain itu, enam dosen Jurusan Sosiologi dan Antropologi UNNES kini juga sedang menempuh pendidikan doktoral di Semarang, Yogyakarta dan Belanda. Mereka diharapkan segera lulus untuk mengembangkan keilmuwan di Universitas Berawasan Konservasi, Unnes.

Ketua Jurusan Sosiologi dan Antropologi Unnes Kuncoro Bayu Prasetyo mengatakan, semakin banyak dosen berkualifikasi akademik doktor akan semakin baik pembelajaran di jurusan yang dipimpinnya.
