Teknik Arsitektur Unnes Laksanakan Field Study ke Singapura

Dalam rangka menunjang pendidikan di bangku kuliah, tanggal 25 – 27 Agustus 2013, mahasiswa Program Studi Teknik Arsitektur Unnes angkatan 2010 melakukan Kuliah Kerja Lapangan (KKL) ke Singapura. Pilihan untuk KKL ke Singapura memiliki alasan bahwa Singapura merupakan negara yang sukses membangun kota binaan yang berstandar internasional, keberlanjutan, layak, nyaman dan aman bagi setiap penghuninya. Beragam bangunan dan tata lansekap perkotaan juga layak menjadi referensi nyata mahasiswa arsitektur  yang selama ini hanya didapat melalui media cetak atau elektronik.

KKL pertama kali dilaksanakan oleh Prodi Teknik Arsitektur ini,  didampingi oleh 6 dosen yang memiliki kompetensi beragam di bidang arsitektur dan perkotaan (Didik NAN, Andi P, Teguh P, Anwar B, Lulut I, dan Wiwit S). Dalam setiap kunjungan, mahasiswa diberikan pemahaman tentang obyek yang diamati. KKL terbagi menjadi beberapa kelompok berdasarkan obyek amatan yang memiliki tugas untuk mengeksplorasi obyek amatan untuk laporan  KKL. Adapun obyek amatan tersebut antara lain: Changi Airport, Kampung Glam, Bugis Street, URA Centre (Urban Redevelopment  Authority), Chinatown, Universal Studios, Merlion Park & Marina Bay, Orchard Road, Raffles Park dan terakhir di NUS  (National University of Singapore).

Rintisan Kerjasama dengan NUS

Kunjungan Teknik Arsitektur Unnes ke School of Design And Environment (SDE) Department of Architecture NUS disambut oleh Ir Johannes Widodo MArch PhD seorang Associate Professor yang dahulu pernah mengajar di Universitas Parahyangan Bandung. Prof Jowi memberikan gambaran tentang seluk beluk Negara Singapura, baik fisik, kependudukan maupun bisnis yang berkembang. Secara khusus, Prof Jowi menjelaskan tentang tata kelola pendidikan di Departmen of Architecture NUS, dimana setiap mahasiswa yang kuliah dapat diarahkan sesuai kompetensi yang dimiliki guna menentukan jenis pekerjaan yang sesuai baik sebagai arsitek, duduk di lingkungan pemerintah (PNS) maupun peneliti. Selanjutnya Tim KKL Arsitektur Unnes diajak keliling Kampus SDE untuk melihat fasilitas pendidikan, workshop, pameran hasil karya mahasiswa. Di lain hari, Prof Jowi mengharap kehadiran civitas academica Unnes ke NUS untuk lebih mempererat hubungan antar perguruan tinggi, terutama perguruan tinggi dari Indonesia.

Belajar tentang building dan landscape

Tidak lah heran jika setiap mahasiswa arsitektur dari Indonesia yang mengunjungi Singapura akan selalu berdecak kagum akan suasana perkotaan yang begitu “keren” namun tetap “hijau”. Seperti halnya penjelasan Prof Jo bahwa 40% lebih Singapura adalah “green”. Singapura bukan lagi sebagai “garden city”, namun telah menjadi “city in the garden”. Sungguh luar biasa, Singapura sebagai kota binaan yang ditata sedemikian rupa guna kenyamanan pengguna. Tidak ada kemacetan, orang berjalan dengan nyaman di setiap pederstrian, suasana jalan tetap rindang, taman hampir selalu menempel di sudut kota bahkan di gedung bertingkat dengan “roof garden”nya.

Gedung-gedung dengan beragam konsep desain secara lengkap tersaji di hadapan para mahasiswa yang mungkin sebelumnya hanya dilihat melalui buku atau internet. Jaringan transportasi massal yang dikelola secara professional mendukung kinerja penduduk yang bergerak cepat dari satu kawasan ke kawasan lain.
