Surat Cinta Kasih Umi Lestari dari Korea

Mendapatkan pengalaman berharga di tingkat internasional seperti student exchange merupakan kesempatan yang sangat langka, tetapi satu yang pasti bahwa hal sulit bukan hal yang tidak mungkin.

Inilah yang diyakini oleh salah satu mahasiswi Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes) dari Jurusan Bahasa dan Sastra Inggris Fakultas Bahasa dan Seni (FBS), Umi Lestari yang mendapatkan kesempatan untuk ikut berpartisipasi dalam program pertukaran pelajar di Korea Selatan.

Mahasiswi Sastra Inggris ini merupakan satu-satunya wakil dari Unnes yang mendapatkan kesempatan untuk belajar selama satu semester di salah satu Universitas Negeri di Korea, tepatnya Kangwon National University.

Bertolak dari Unnes hari Rabu (13/3) siang, dengan berbekal wejangan dari Direktur International Office Unnes, Hendi Pratama SPd MA “ Umi, kamu harus hati-hati di sana. Kamu di negara orang, harus bisa menjaga sikap.”

Program pertukaran ini terselenggara atas dukungan penuh pemerintah Korea Selatan yakni Global Korean Scholarship. Program pertukaran pelajar yang juga beasiswa ini merupakan program tahunan yang mengikutsertakan mahasiwa dari seluruh dunia yang tertarik untuk belajar di salah satu Universitas Negeri di seluruh Korea Selatan. Beasiswa tersebut mencakup tiket pesawat (pulang pergi), living expenses sebesar 800.000 won per bulan, dan free Korean Language Classes.

Mahasiswa akan mendapatkan pengalaman dan pembelajaran bagaimana bersosialisasi dalam tingkat internasional. “Di sini saya bertemu teman-teman mahasiswa dari negera lain seperti Brazil, Argentina, Thailand, China, Vietnam, dan Filipina,” kata Umi.

Umi yang merupakan mahasiswi penerima beasiswa Bidik Misi ini menceritakan pengalamannya saat pertama kalinya menginjakkan kaki di negeri Ginseng.

“Perbedaan yang sangat mecolok yaitu suhu. Karena saat saya mendarat di Incheon International Airport (14/3) sekitar jam 7.30 pagi, suhunya mencapai 2 derajat celcius,” tandasnya.

Umi menceriterakan, bertemu dengan teman-teman mahasiswa dari negara lain, mengetahui bagaimana sistem pembelajaran di Korea Selatan sehingga mampu mencetak sumber daya manusia yang unggul dan menjadikannya salah satu kekuatan ekonomi di Asia merupakan salah satu misi yang harus di emban bagi setiap mahasiswa yang melaksanakan pertukaran pelajar. Selain ltu, tentunya mengenalkan Indonesia secara umum dan Unnes pada khususnya.

“Ini merupakan hal hebat yang pernah terjadi dalam hidup saya, dan saya berharap masih banyak lagi mahasiswa-mahasiwa Unnes yang mendapatkan kesempatan seperti ini sehingga mampu membawa nama Universitas Konservasi tidak hanya di tingkat Nasional tetapi Internasional,” katanya seraya mengucapkan terima kasih kepada berbagai pihak yang telah membantu, terutama universitas sehingga ia mampu menginjakkan kaki di Korea Selatan.
