Studium General, Jurusan Sejarah Datangkan Profesor Universitas Leiden

 Jurusan Sejarah Fakultas Ilmu Sosial Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) sukses selenggarakan studium generale pada Jumat (23/9) ini. Kegiatan ini dilakukan atas kerja sama Yayasan Obor Indonesia (YOI) dan KITLV Leiden.

Studium generale bertema “Serdadu Belanda di Indonesia 1945-1950: Kesaksian perang pada sisi sejarah yang salah” menghadirkan Prof. Gert Oostindie dari Universitas Leiden, Belanda sebagai narasumber. Tidak kurang sebanyak 250 peserta antusias mengikuti kegiatan.

Diskusi yang dipandu secara menarik oleh Andy Suryadi MPd ini mengetengahkan satu perspektif baru dalam sejarah revolusi Indonesia. Jika selama ini kisah yang banyak dikemukakan adalah tentang peristiwa revolusi versi Indonesia, Prof Gert Oostindie menghadirkan fakta yang datang dari sisi Belanda.

Dalam paparannya, ia menggambarkan sisi manusiawi dari serdadu Belanda yang selama ini dicap antagonis. Berdasarkan penelitian yang mendalam terhadap kesaksian dan catatan para serdadu Belanda, terungkap bahwa tidak selamanya peran antagonis dijalankan. Ada pula sisi-sisi dilematis ketika mereka menjalankan tugas di Indonesia.

Dari studium generale ini terdapat makna yang penting dalam kajian sejarah revolusi Indonesia. Prof Gert Oostindie mengajarkan bahwa penulisan sejarah tidak selamanya harus berasal dari elite, tetapi juga dari bawah, History from below. Ini sangat penting dilakukan untuk mengetahui sisi sejarah yang berbeda, sehingga masa lalu dapat dipahami secara lebih jernih dan menyeluruh.

Kegiatan ini merupakan kali kedua Jurusan Sejarah bekerja sama dengan dua lembaga ternama tersebut. Sebelumnya pada Februari 2016 telah diselenggarakan bedah buku karya Prof. Gerry Van Klinken dari Universitas Amsterdam, Belanda.
