Siswa SMPN 2 Semarang Juarai Olimpiade IPS Se-Jawa

Helmi Ma’rifatir,  siswa SMPN 2  Semarang, berhasil mengalahkan 279 peserta lainnya diajang Olimpiade IPS Tingkat SMP/MTS Se-Jawa yang digelar oleh Fakultas Ilmu Sosial (FIS) Unnes,  Sabtu, (22/10) . Pemenang dalam event itu secara  berturut-turut:  juara I Helmi Ma’rifatir (SMPN 2 Semarang), juara II Reynaldi Putra (SMPN  216 Jakarta), juara III dan juara favorit Cinta Sonia (SMPN 3 Pati). Juara harapan I-III Ryan Sarwidiyanto  (SMPN 3 Cilacap), Alyah Zulfatunajja (SMPN 1 Temanggung), dan Natasha Laurentia  (SMP Dominico S).

Acara yang diselenggarakan oleh Fakultas Imu Sosial (FIS) Unnes  itu merupakan kali keempat digelar. Pembantu Rektor Bidang Akademik Agus Wayudin ketika membuka acara mengaku bangga dan mendukung acara tersebut.

” Unnes sangat mengapresiasi Olimpiade IPS ini. Acara ini tidak hanya memberikan nilai pendidikan tetapi juga mendorong siswa-siswi SMP/MTs untuk mencintai IPS. Kegiatan ini juga mengukuhkan keberadaan IPS sebagai disiplin ilmu yang harus disejajarkan dengan disiplin ilmu pengetahuan alam (IPA) dalam hal peranannya di berbagai aspek kehidupan,” katanya.

Menurut PR I, selama ini bidang studi IPS cenderung dianggap tidak lebih baik daripada bidang studi IPA. Padahal, keberadaannya memiliki peran  penting dalam menganalisis dan memecahkan berbagai permasalahan. “Pemahaman tentang aspek-aspek  sosial adalah contoh penting penerapan pengetahuan di bidang IPS yang tidak dipahami dengan baik atau bahkan cenderung diabaikan di bidang IPA.  Karenanya, mari kita bangun peradaban tidak hanya dalam bidang teknologi tetapi juga peradaban sosial,” katanya di hadapan ratusan peserta yang memadati gedung C7 lantai III FIS.

Olimpiade IPS merupakan ajang tahunan yang diselenggarakan oleh FIS Unnes.” Acara ini adalah bentuk apresiasi FIS dalam membangkitkan minat siswa terhadap IPS dan menyejajarkannya dengan bidang studi IPA. Kami berharap, olimpiade ini semakin memotiviasi para guru dan siswa untuk mencintai dan bangga terhadap bidang studi IPS. Ke depan, kami berharap Olimpiade IPS bisa mencakup wilayah seluruh Indonesia, tidak hanya Pulau Jawa,” kata Dekan Subagyo.

Olimpiade IPS juga merupakan hasil kerja sama FIS Unnes dengan Decentralized Basic Education (DBE) Jateng.
