Mata Wahyu Setiawan memang buta, tapi tidak semangatnya. Matanya memang tak bisa melihat, tapi cita-cita tak segelap pandangnya. Wahyu adalah siswa kelas 3 SMA 8 Surakarta. Bersama 287 rekannya, ia bertandang ke Universitas Negeri Semarang, mencoba menyelami kampus ini. Wahyu tak sekadar bertanya, tapi juga mendesak bagaimana mekanisme yang mesti ia tempuh. Wahyu memang siswa berkebutuhan khusus yang berprestasi. Tahun ini saja, ia mampu menyabet medali perunggu Olahraga Catur Individu Se-Asia Pasifik dan medali emas lari cepat tingkat nasional. Tak heran bila ia bertanya lantang di Auditorium Unnes, Rabu (20/11).

Drs Suhardo MM Kepala Bagian Kemahasiswaan, dengan mantap menjawab, “Bisa. Unnes membuka peluang seluas-luasnya bagi anak berkebutuhan khusus. Beasiswa prestasi juga bisa diberikan. Tahun ini saja, ada satu atlet yang baru saja memenangkan cabang olahraga atletik, dan ia mahasiswa berkebutuhan khusus.”

Paparan program studi, visi, misi, dan kegiatan kemahasiswaan di Unnes juga disampaikan dengan jelas untuk memberi gambaran pada siswa SMA 8 Surakarta bahwa minat dan bakat pasti tertampung di universitas konservasi ini. Selain oleh Kabag Kemahasiswaan, kunjungan SMA Negeri 8 Surakarta disambut dengan baik oleh Kepala Bagian Pendidikan Unnes Drs Mulyadi MM. Drs Sri Waluyo, Wakasek Kesiswaan SMA 8 Surakarta menyatakan tujuan mereka menyambangi Unnes adalah untuk menambah wawasan dan minat siswa yang tertarik melanjutkan studi di Unnes.

“Kebingungan siswa ketika akan melanjutkan ke Unnes semoga terjawab melalui acara ini. Sebab rata-rata siswa terkendala masalah jarak yang jauh, biaya perkuliahan dan biaya hidup. Tapi ternyata banyak beasiswa dan program penunjang di Unnes yang bisa mengatasi kebimbangan mereka ”, ujar Sri Waluyo seusai acara.

Maka harapan yang terhampar di benak Wahyu dan kawan-kawan terjawab sudah. Lewat jalur Seleksi Nasional Masuk Perguruan Tinggi (SNMPTN) maupun Seleksi Penerimaan Mahasiswa (SPMU) Unnes, boleh jadi tahun depan mereka kenakan jaket kuning kebanggaan.

    apakah anak luar kota ada kemungkinan bisa tertampung disana,dan bagaimana dengan tempat tinggal mereka apakah ada tempat, maslahnya anak saya ada prestasi di bidang olahraga, dan jurusannya sekarang IPS sekarang sudah kelas 3 terakhir mau selesai ,
