Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) demonstrates a strong commitment to ethical governance by establishing an integrated system of ethical compliance mechanisms that cover research, academic conduct, and student behavior. This system is implemented through SILANTIK (Sistem Layanan Etik Penelitian), the Research Ethics Committee (Komite Etik Penelitian), and the Student Ethics and Discipline Enforcement Team (Tim Penegakan Etika dan Tata Tertib Mahasiswa).
At the institutional level, UNNES operates SILANTIK, a centralized digital platform managed by LPPM to ensure that all research activities comply with ethical standards. Through this system, researchers—including lecturers and students—must obtain ethical clearance before conducting studies, ensuring protection of participants, confidentiality, and research integrity.
Supporting this system, UNNES formally established the Research Ethics Committee under Rector’s Decree No. T/1143/UN37/HK.02/2025. The committee is responsible for reviewing research protocols, assessing risks, identifying conflicts of interest, and ensuring compliance with ethical principles across disciplines. It also monitors ongoing research and maintains confidentiality of all ethical review processes.
In parallel, UNNES strengthens ethical compliance in student life through the Student Ethics and Discipline Enforcement Team, established under Rector’s Decree No. T/168/UN37/HK.02/2026. This team is tasked with socializing ethical standards, guiding student behavior, and resolving violations related to ethics and campus regulations, ensuring a conducive and accountable academic environment.
The team consists of appointed officials with specific roles such as protector, advisor, chair, and members (see page 3), demonstrating structured oversight and institutional responsibility in student ethical governance.
Through this integrated framework—combining digital systems (SILANTIK), formal committees, and enforcement teams—UNNES ensures comprehensive ethical oversight across research, academic activities, and student conduct, reinforcing transparency, accountability, and integrity at all levels of the institution.
