Road to Carstensz: MAHAPALA UNNES Lakukan Training Center di Gunung Sumbing

Dalam rangka pra kegiatan menuju Puncak Carstensz, tentunya ada banyak hal yang harus dipersiapkan untuk para atlet. Terutama dalam mempersiapkan fisik para atlet memang harus sesuai dengan standar yang ada. Kali ini para calon atlet melakukan training center di Gunung Sumbing via Mangli. Kegiatan ini berlangsung selama lima hari tanggal 16 s.d. 20 Mei 2022.

Keenam calon atlet berasal dari berbagai fakultas dan tingkatan semester yang berbeda. Dengan adanya training center kali ini akan menjadi penentu untuk menyeleksi calon atlet menjadi atlet yang nantinya akan didelegasikan. Untuk mengikuti training center ini tentunya ada banyak hal yang disiapkan terutama alat alat ascending dan descending yang akan dibawa sampai atas.

Kegiatan ini dimulai dengan pengambilan data di hari pertama dengan melakukan tektok 2 kali sampai pos 1. Lalu keesokan harinya keenam calon atlet dan pendamping trekking menuju puncak dan akan melakukan camp di area kawah Segoro Wedi. Untuk berat carier yang dibawa para calon atlet sekitar 25 kg. Untuk proses pengambilan data di kawasan puncak juga dilakukan VO2MAX sebanyak dua kali untuk melihat perkembangan calon atlet. Tidak lupa juga para atlet melakukan aklimatisasi pada pukul 2 dini hari. Bahkan suhu mencapai 2 derajat celcius.

Para calon atlet juga melakukan simulasi summits menggunakan alat-alat ascending descending di pagi hari. Lalu dilanjutkan dengan simulasi latihan scrambling dibawah Puncak Rajawali. Latihan tersebut berlangsung dari pagi hingga siang. Selanjutnya kami bersiap melakukan perjalanan turun menuju pos 1 dan melakukan camp disana.

Keesokan harinya para calon atlet melakukan latihan scrambling dan juga penyebrangan tali seperti simulasi di kawasan Gunung Carstensz. Latihan tersebut berlangsung dari pagi hingga sore.

Selanjutnya para calon atlet turun menuju ke basecamp. Kegiatan dilanjutkan di esok harinya dengan kembali melakukan pengambilan data tektok hingga pos 1 sebanyak 2 kali. Setelah itu para calon atlet dan pendamping bersiap kembali ke UNNES dan melakukan recovery selama sehari.

Adanya kegiatan ini diharapkan akan terbentuk para atlet yang terbaik sehingga dapat menjadi delegator MAHAPALA UNNES menuju Puncak Carstensz. Harapannya para atlet dapat mengibarkan bendera UNNES di salah satu dari tujuh Seven Summits di dunia.
