Rektor: Tak Perlu Pelo Lagi Sebut Nama Unnes

Kini tak perlu ada yang pelo lagi untuk mengakui dirinya sebagai warga Unnes. Termasuk kalangan luar dalam menyebut nama universitas konservasi ini.

Rektor Prof Sudijono Sastroatmodjo mengemukakan hal itu, Selasa (26/7), di depan para wartawan seusai menerima Tim Pimnas Unnes yang pekan lalu menjadi juara umum III pada event ilmiah mahasiswa paling bergengsi itu di Makassar.

“Hingga 2006 lalu, barangkali masih banyak yang pelo, tak jelas ketika menjawab pertanyaan kuliah di mana mas atau mbak. Bahkan dalam ajang semacam Pimnas sekalipun, tak jarang yang salah menyebut dan mengira Unnes itu UNS atau Unesa. Tapi, sekarang saya kira bukan hanya mahasiswa yang akan dengan mantap mengeja suku kata demi suku kata dari Unnes, tetapi juga kalangan luar,” kata Prof Sudijono.

Kondisi tersebut, lanjut Rektor, tak lepas dari berbagai capaian yang telah ditunjukkan, baik oleh karyawan, dosen, maupun mahasiswa, termasuk alumni, untuk secara sinergis mengharumkan nama universitas konservasi ini pada level nasional, bahkan regional dan internasional.

Karena itu, kata Rektor, dirinya senantiasa mengajak segenap warga universitas untuk tidak saja tandas mengucapkan nama universitasnya, tetapi bersamaan dengan itu terus-menerus meningkatkan kinerja dan prestasi.

Sebelumnya, depan puluhan mahasiswa yang tergabung dalam Tim Pimnas Unnes dan para pejabat tingkat universitas serta fakultas, Rektor menyampaikan apresiasinya atas prestasi yang diraih tim secara gemilang di Makassar. “Universitas patut memberikan penghargaan, begitu pula para dekan, termasuk menempatkan karya ilmiah yang telah teruji tersebut untuk dipertimbangkan kemungkinannya sebagai pengganti tugas akhir atau skripsi mereka,” katanya.
