Rektor: Menanam itu Pekerjaan Ringan

Menanam dan merawat tanaman adalah pekerjaan yang relatif ringan dibanding dengan pendahulu kita yang menjadikan bangsa ini menjadi bangsa yang terbebas dari penjajah.

Pernyataan tersebut dikemukakan Rektor Universitas Negeri Semarang Prof Sudijono Sastroatmodjo pada kegiatan penanaman pohon di kelurahan Sumurejo kecamatan Gunungpati Semarang, Jumat (2/12).

Pada kesempatan itu, secara simbolis Pimpinan Bank Panin cabang Semarang Dewi Susanti menyerahkan kepada Rektor bibit trembesi sebanyak 1.000 pohon, 200 ribu biji trembesi, 200 ribu biji sengon, dan 200 ribu polibag. Kemudian, Rektor menyerahkannya kepada Lurah Sumurejo dan Lurah Cepoko Kecamatan Gunungpati.

Dalam sambutannya, Sudijono mengemukakan, Kecamatan Gunungpati memiliki beraneka jenis tanaman dan buah yang berkualitas. “Dengan dapat mengekspor aneka buah itu, geliat ekononi masyarakat akan bertambah, kawasannya menjadi ijo royo-royo dan tentunya memberikan kontribusi bagi wilayah Semarang bagian bawah,” katanya.

Pada kegiatan yang juga dihadiri segenap pejabat, mahasiswa Unnes, Camat Gunungpati, dan warga sekitar itu Rektor berharap Unnes dapat terus melaksanakan kegiatan serupa sebagai wujud tri dharma perguruan tinggi.

Dr Margareta Rahayuningsih ketua panitia melaporkan kegiatan menanam hari ini (2/12) ada di dua lokasi yakni di kecamatan Gunungpati dan di taman kehati Gunung Ledek meliputi tanaman trembesi, bambu, mahoni, manggis, durian, nangka, kelengkeng, dan rambutan.

“Ini merupakan awal dari rangkaian kegiatan penanaman dan pemeliharaan pohon secara berkelanjutan. Penanaman akan dilakukan secara bertahap di 16 kelurahan kecamatan Gunungpati. Saat ini Unnes memiliki program yang mewajibkan mahasiswa menanam dan merawat minimal satu pohon sampai mereka lulus” kata  Margareta.

Sebelumnya, seperti dimuat di laman unnes.ac.id, Rektor Unnes menerima penghargaan atas penanaman 1 miliar pohon pada tahun 2010. Penghargaan tersebut diserahkan langsung oleh Presiden RI, Senin (28/11) di  Bukit Merah Putih Sentul, Jawa Barat.
