Rektor Lepas Atlet Daki Aconcagua

Tiga atlet mahasiswa pecinta alam (Mahapala) Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes) Spirit of Indonesian Youth Expidition Part III (SIYE III) Mount Aconcagua 6.962 meter diatas permukaan laut (mdpl), Argentina, Amerika dilepas Rektor Prof Dr Fathur Rokhman MHum.

Rektor didampingi Pembantu Rektor Bidang Akademik (PR I) Dr Agus Wahyudin, Dr Wahyono (PR II), dan Prof Masrukhi (PR III) menyerahkan bendera Unnes, bendera Indonesia, dan bendera Mahapala menandai pelepasan kegiatan itu, Senin (11/11) di halaman rektorat kampus Sekaran.

“Dengan ini saya lepas tiga atlet Spirit of Indonesian Youth Expidition Part III (SIYE III) Mount Aconcagua yakni Miftakhul Ulum mahasiswa program studi (prodi) Pendidikan Teknik Mesin Fakultas Teknik (FT), Putra Tri Atmaja, dan Hermawati keduanya prodi Pendidikan Luar Sekolah (FIP). Selamat mengibarkan bendera Unnes, bendera Indonesia, dan bendera Mahapala di puncak gunung Aconcagua dengan semangat cinta tanah air semoga Allah merindoi setiap langkah anda didalam keberangkatan dan kembali ke Unnes,” kata Rektor.

Selain itu, kata Rektor mereka juga mempromosikan seni, budaya, pariwisata Indonesia, dan study banding di bidang konservasi serta kemahasiswaan di Universitas Bruenos Aires.

Miftakhul Ulum salah satu atlet mengatakan, kegiatan ini merupakan agenda 2 tahunan dari tujuh dari ekpedisi gunung tertinggi di dunia. Sebelumnya, Mahapala Unnes juga sukses dalam ekpedisi pertama 2009 di gunung Kilimanjaro (5.895 mdpl), Tanzania, Amerika, ekpedisi kedua 2011 di gunung Elbrus (5.642 mdpl), Rusia, Eropa. Tahun 2013 ini ke gunung Aconcagua dengan ketinggian 6.962 mdpl tanggal 14 November sampai dengan 8 Desember dan para altet siap melaksanakan.

Kesiapannya sudah dilakukan delapan bulan meliputi kegiatan fisik, bahasa, straing conditioning, jogging, walking with stone, fitnes, renang, dan latihan pendakian gunung berulang-ulang yakni di Gunung Merbabu (3.145mdpl) sebanyak lima kali, Gunung Lawu (3.265 mdpl), Gunung Sindoro (3.150 mdpl), dan Gunung Sumbing (3.371 mdpl).

Pembantu Rektor Bidang Kemahasiswaan Prof Masrukhi menyampaikan, kegiatan ini untuk menanamkan rasa cinta kepada lingkungan, dan alam semesta. Sudah tentu nafas konservasilah yang mendasari spirit mereka untuk melakukan pendakian itu.

Prof Masrukhi menambahkan, mereka mendaki itu dengan biaya sendiri misalnya dengan jualan kolak, pisang goreng, hadiah pemenang lomba (vertical running juara II), sponsor, dan dari universitas.
