Prof Etty Optimis Kendal Akan Jadi “Batamnya” Pulau Jawa

Guru Besar bidang Kebijakan Publik di Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes), Prof Dr Etty Soesilowati MSi, optimis Kabupaten Kendal mampu menjadi Batamnya pulau Jawa.  Sebab, pada 2015, kabupaten yang terletak persis di sebelah barat Kota Semarang ini ditetapkan sebagai Kawasan Ekonomi Khusus.

“Bukan hanya barang-barang luar negeri yang akan bebas masuk tanpa bea, tetapi juga tenaga kerja dari negara ASEAN bebas bekerja di Kabupaten Kendal,” kata Prof Etty, ketika berdialog dengan 90 kepala SMA/sederajat, Jumat (4/4), di Kendal. Dialog merupakan bagian dari Program Profesor dan Doktor Go to School.

Prof Etty hadir bersama Guru Besar bidang Geografi Fisik Prof Dr Dewi Liesnoor Setyowati MSi dan dosen Jurusan Matematika Dr Masrukan MSi. Di Kendal, mereka hendak  melakukan pendampingan terkait implementasi Kurikulum 2013 dan ujian nasional (UN).

“Kedatangan investor ini menantang SMK-SMK agar menyiapkan tenaga kerja sebanyak-banyaknya,” ujar Prof Etty. Dia menegaskan, sekolah menengah, khususnya SMK, harus berbenah dengan menguatkan keahliah sesuai keunggulan daerah Kendal. “Di antaranya perikanan, kelautan dan perikanan,” kata dia.

Prof Dewi Liesnoor menekankan pentingnya menanamkan kejujuran bagi anak didik, khususnya saat mengerjakan UN. Tips agar anak-anak jujur, menurutnya, salah satunya dengan menanyakan kepada diri sendiri. Misalnya, “Bagaimana jika semua orang berbohong?”

Adapun Dr Masrukan MSi mengatakan, pada penerimaan mahasiswa baru 2014 melalui jalur Seleksi Nasional Masuk Perguruan Tinggi Negeri (SNMPTN), nilai UN berperan dan digunakan sebagai salah satu tiket masuk perguruan tinggi negeri, selain nilai rapor dan prestasi.
