Penulis dan Penerbit Punya Kedudukan Setara

Kepala Penerbitan Buku Umum Penerbit Andi, Edi S Mulyanta SSi MT, mengatakan, penulis dan penerbit memiliki kedudukan setara. Secara umum, penulis memandang penerbit bertindak sebagai intermediari karya yang akan disampaikan kepada masyarakat. Sedangkan penerbit memandang penulis sebagai aset penting perusahaan yang menyebabkan proses penerbitan tetap berlangsung.

Dia menyampaikan hal itu pada Workshop Pelatihan Penulisan Buku Referensi, Selasa (25/2), di rektorat Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes) kampus Sekaran Gunungpati.

Menurutnya, setelah penulis menyerahkan naskah pada penerbit, kurang lebih dalam dua bulan penerbit akan menyatakan apakah naskah itu layak diterbitkan atau tidak.

“Jika diterima, penulis wajib melengkapi kelengkapan naskah, dan bila ditolak, naskah akan dikembalikan kepada penulis,” kata Edi.

56 dosen Unnes yang menjadi peserta sangat antusias karena narasumber banyak berbicara tentang penerbitan, pembahasan mengenai gambaran industri penerbitan, sistem penilaian di penerbitan, metode-motode penulisan, dasar keputusan terbit, dan cara mengirimkan usulan naskah.

Dosen Harus Berkarya

Saat membuka acara, Rektor Unnes Prof Dr Fathur Rokhman MHum mengatakan Unnes akan terus mendorong dosennya agar berkarya semakin produktif. Bahkan, universitas menjanjikan penghargaan khusus bagi dosen yang karya-karyanya terpublikasi. Bonus diberikan karena publikasi karya dosen berimplikasi positif terhadap reputasi universitas di dunia akademik.

“Silakan Bapak dan Ibu berkarya. Publikasikan karya tulisan anda, kalau terpublikasi, universitas akan berikan penghargaan. Kalau karya Anda dimuat di jurnal internasional, Anda akan kami beri bonus lagi,” kata Prof Fathur.

Menurutnya, setiap dosen berhak dan bahkan wajib terus mengembangkan keilmuannya. Tidak perlu takut seorang dosen lebih hebat daripada rektornya.

“Saya justru senang Anda bisa menjadi dosen yang cemerlang. Tidak perlu takut. Kalau Anda hebat dan ada yang memuji Anda, nanti saya tinggal bilang, ‘Itu baru dosennya, belum rektornya’,” kata Rektor disambut tawa hadirin.

Prestasi dosen, menurutnya, harus terus tumbuhkan agar Unnes bisa memerankan sebagai rumah ilmu yang setiap pilarnya juga ilmu. “Ilmu harus bisa dipahami, ilmu harus bisa digunakan, dan ilmu harus bisa dikabarkan atau disebarluaskan,” katanya.
