Inilah Peran Alumni Internasional bagi Unnes

Peran alumni internasional sangat penting dalam mewujudkan Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes) menjadi universitas berkelas internasional. Para alumni internasional dinilai memiliki pengalaman dan pemahaman tentang kondisi global yang bisa disumbangkan untuk mengembangkan Unnes menjadi universitas yang mendunia.

Rektor Unnes Prof Dr Fathur Rokhman MHum menyebut, peran alumni internasional sangat beragam, mulai dalam penyelenggaraan kelas internasional, publikasi internasional, maupun joint research.

“Bapak dan ibu juga bisa menjadi international liaison Unnes untuk negara-negara tertentu,” katanya dalam coffe morning internasionalisasi Unnes, Selasa (12/11) di Ruang 405. “Dengan menjadi liaison, Bapak dan Ibu menjadi semacam contact person dalam membangun jejaring internasional,” lanjutnya.

Menurut Rektor, Unnes memiliki ratusan dosen yang telah dan sedang menempuh pendidikan di luar negeri. Mereka tersebar di seluruh benua, dari Asia, Amerika, Eropa, Australia, hingga Eropa. Pengalaman mereka selama studi lanjut perlu disarikan agar dapat diadaptasi di Unnes.  Sejalan dengan itu, para pakar dari Unnes juga akan didorong supaya bisa berkiprah menjadi ilmuwan dunia.

Menanggapi hal itu, profesor Pendidikan IPA Prof Achmad Binadja, PhD menyarankan supaya Unnes benar-benar menyiapkan diri untuk menyambut kelas internasional. Menurutnya ada tiga persiapan mendasar, yakni sumber daya manusia, adminsitrasi, dan Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi (TIK).

“Tidak kalah penting, kita juga perlu membuat target-target konkret supaya dari waktu ke waktu dapat memantau perkembangan internasionalisasi Unnes,” kata alumni University of Iowa, Amerika Serikat, itu.

Profesor Ilmu Fisika Prof Nathan Hindarto PhD berpendapat, pola hubungan antara universitas di dalam dan luar negeri sudah berubah. Jika dulu ada motif meminta dan mengharap sesuatu, kini polanya lebih egaliter. “Sekarang prinsipnya adalah Anda punya apa, saya punya apa. Ini berarti, supaya bisa membangun hubungan yang egliter Unnes harus memiliki daya tawar yang kuat. Kita harus punya sesuatu,” katanya.

Internasionalisasi adalah salah satu pilar dari tiga pilar mewujudkan visi Unnes menjadi universitas konservasi bertaraf internasional yang sehat, unggul, dan sejahtera pada 2020. Selain internasionalisasi, pilar lainnya adalah konservasi dan sutera. Hingga berita ini diturunkan, coffe morning yang diikuti lebih dari 50 orang tersebut masih berlangsung.

    Kemajuan Unnes harus melibatkan semua komponen dan kebersamaan, tidak hanya alumni dari internasional tapi juga alumni dari dalam negeri juga harus dilibatkan penuh.
