Penguatan Pilar Konservasi Tanggung Jawab Bersama

Semenjak mencanangkan diri sebagai Universitas Konservasi, Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes) telah merumuskan tujuh pilar konservasi. Sudah menjadi tanggung jawab segenap civitas akademika untuk memperkuat pilar itu.

Ketujuh pilar tersebut adalah biodiversitas, green transportation, energi bersih, pengelolaan sampah, paperless, kader konservasi, seni dan budaya.

Hal itu disampaikan Ketua Badan Konservasi Unnes, Prof Dr Dewi Liesnoor MSi, saat memimpin apel pagi, Senin (24/3), di rektorat kampus Sekaran, Gunungpati, Semarang.

Ia mengatakan, pilar konservasi pertama, konservasi biodiversitas diwujudkan melalui pemeliharaan berbagai spesies hewan dan ditanamnya keanekaragaman hayati di Unnes.

“Kedua, green transportation Unnes dengan diterapkannya budaya bersepeda dan jalan kaki, juga sudah dirancang mobil listrik untuk transportasi kampus yang ramah lingkungan,” jelasnya.

Pilar konservasi ketiga adalah energi bersih. Prof Dewi mengemukakan, Unnes telah menerapkan penggunaan solar sel dibeberapa titik halte kampus dan juga penggunaan biogas. Ke depan, Unnes akan memanfaatkan sinar matahari di atas gedung serba guna (GSG) Unnes untuk menjadi energi listrik untuk penerangan.

Pilar konservasi keempat, yakni pengelolaan sampah, Unnes telah melaksanakan pengelolaan sampah di rumah kompos. “Yang belum dapat dilaksanakan dan masih dalam tahap perencanaan adalah pengelolaan air limbah laboratorium kimia,” ujarnya.

Pada penerapan pilar kelima, yakni paperless, ia mengemukakan sebagai upaya mengurangi pemakaian kertas, beberapa surat dinas dan undangan didistribusikan melalui SMS atau e-mail. “Hal itu akan sangat menghemat kertas,” ujarnya.

Pilar keenam, kader konservasi, Prof Dewi mengungkapkan civitas akademika Unnes bisa sebagai kader konservasi, mampu menjadi contoh bagi masyarakat. “Semisal dalam membuang sampah, mau membedakan antara sampah organik maupun anorganik, jangan asal membuang,” katanya.

Seni dan Budaya merupakan pilar konservasi ketujuh. Terkait ini, Prof Dewi mengatakan Unnes telah memiliki berbagai kegiatan sebagai upaya melestarikan dan mengembangkan seni dan budaya.

“Budaya juga bagaimana kita bersikap, berperilaku, dan peduli terhadap sekitar,” pungkasnya.
