Penguatan kantor urusan internasional merupakan keniscayaan untuk berkompetisi pada aras universitas kelas dunia.

Pembantu RektorBidangan Pengembangan dan Kerja Sama (PR IV) Unnes Prof Dr Fathur Rokhman mengekakan hal itu saat membuka Workshop Penguatan Kantor Urusan Internasional Unnes, Kamis (6/10), di Hotel Ciputra Semarang. Workshop diikuti para ketua jurusan dan gugus kerja sama dengan narasumber Junaidi (Universitas Indonesia), Medi Arintoko (Kemdiknas), dan Joko Nugroho (Biro PKLN Kemdiknas.

“Workshop ini merupakan bagian dari upaya untuk melakukan penguatan itu. Saya harap kantor urusan internasional menjadi pintu masuk utama untuk mewujudkan visi internasional universitas ini,” katanya.

PR IV mengungkapkan, selama ini Unnes telah melakukan berbagai upaya untuk mewujudkan visi internasionalisasi universitas. “Selain masuk orbit world class university ala Webometrics, belakangan ini kita sudah mulai menyelenggarakan double degree dengan sejumlah universitas di luar negeri, sebagaimana yang dilakukan oleh Akuntansi Fakultas Ekonomi, Matematika FMIPA, dan Program Pascasarjana,” katanya.

Selain itu, lanjut PR IV, Unnes terus mendorong dan memfasilitasi dosen untuk studi lanjut ke luar negeri. “Pak Rektor (Prof Sudijono Sastroatmodjo –Red) bahkan selalu wanti-wanti, dosen yang usianya  kurang dari 35 tahun  harus studi  lanjut di luar negeri. Mulai tahun 2011 ini ada tambahan lagi 16 dosen yang dibiayai untuk studi ke luar negeri,” katanya.

Prof Fathur mengingatkan pentingnya menempatkan implementasi visi internasionalisasi untuk dikelola secara terintegrasi  dengan visi konservasi dan sehat-unggul-sejahtera (sutera). “Satu sama lain tidak boleh yang meninggalkan,” tandasnya.

PR IV juga menginformasikan, Unnes kembali menerima darmasiswa dari berbagai negara. “Tahun ini 23 orang yang bakal studi tentang Indonesia di Unnes. Dari sejumlah itu bahkan ada yang tahun lalu ikut, tahun ini ikut lagi.  Itu tidak mungkin terjadi kalau Unnes ukan merupakan universitas yang menyenangkan untuk studi. Memang pada umumnya ketika datang, mereka menangis. Sebab, semua makananterasa  asin, semua makanan pedes. Tapi ketika akan pulang, mereka menangis karena kadung cinta pada kampus, dosen, dan mahasiswa,” katanya.

Pada bagian lain, Junaidi mengemukakan, Unnes telah memiliki modal untuk melakukan hubungan dengan berbagai perguruan tinggi luar negeri. “Unnes merupakan salah satu dari 34 members The Asosiation of Southeast Asian Institution of Higher Learning (ASAIHL). Jadi Unnes sudah punya modal untuk meluaskan jaringan,” kata praktisi kantor urusan internasional Universitas Indonesia ini.

    to be an international university in any way, khususon mutu berkelas dunia, diakui ijazahnya pada level dunia. Sebuah perjuangan yg panjang dan mulai dari sekarang. Start right now or never.
