Tujuh mahasiswa Program Studi Fisika FMIPA Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) berkesempatan mengikuti Training Pelapisan Material untuk Aplikasi Sensor di Laboratorium Fisika Universitas Brawijaya (UB), Malang, pada 6 Oktober 2025. Mereka adalah Nishfa Mufatihah (S2 Fisika), Dendy Randa (S1 Fisika), Mila Fitriana (S1 Fisika), Tamara Rizky Senda (S1 Fisika), Vio Gustian Nur Alamsyah (S1 Fisika), Hazlinda Dian Pertiwi (S1 Fisika), dan Nur Habibah (S1 Fisika), yang merupakan mahasiswa bimbingan Dr. Ian Yulianti, M.Eng., dosen Fisika FMIPA UNNES. Pelatihan ini merupakan bagian dari implementasi kolaborasi antara Fisika FMIPA UNNES dan Pusat Riset Fotonika BRIN dalam penelitian Sensor Optik Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) untuk Identifikasi Gelatin, yang diketuai oleh Dr. Ian Yulianti, M.Eng. (Fisika UNNES) dan Dr. Wildan Panji Tresna, M.T. (BRIN).

Pelatihan yang berlangsung intensif selama satu hari tersebut menghadirkan narasumber ahli, yaitu Prof. Dr. Eng. Masruroh, M.Si. dari Universitas Brawijaya, serta dua peneliti dari Pusat Riset Fotonika BRIN, yakni Dr. Lia Aprilia, M.T. dan Prof. Dr. Isnaeni, M.Sc. Materi yang disampaikan meliputi teori dan praktik teknik pelapisan tipis (thin film coating) menggunakan metode sputtering dan sol-gel, yang banyak digunakan dalam pengembangan sensor optik, sensor gas, maupun sensor lingkungan. Mahasiswa berkesempatan mempraktikkan langsung proses deposisi material serta melakukan karakterisasi lapisan menggunakan UV-Vis Spectrophotometer dan Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) untuk mempelajari hubungan antara struktur, komposisi, dan kinerja material yang dihasilkan.

Dosen pembimbing, Dr. Ian Yulianti, M.Eng., menyampaikan bahwa kegiatan pelatihan ini memberikan manfaat besar bagi mahasiswa bimbingannya. “Kegiatan ini sangat relevan dengan topik penelitian tugas akhir yang mereka ambil. Mahasiswa tidak hanya memahami konsep teoritis, tetapi juga mempraktikkan langsung proses pelapisan dan analisis material menggunakan peralatan berstandar riset. Pengalaman seperti ini menumbuhkan kepercayaan diri sekaligus kesiapan mereka untuk melangkah lebih jauh dalam penelitian material sensor,” ungkapnya. Ia menambahkan bahwa kegiatan kolaboratif dengan Universitas Brawijaya dan BRIN menjadi sarana penting untuk memperluas wawasan mahasiswa terhadap praktik riset yang sesungguhnya.

Koordinator Program Studi Fisika FMIPA UNNES, Prof. Dr. Masturi, M.Si., turut memberikan apresiasi atas terselenggaranya pelatihan tersebut. “Kegiatan ini menunjukkan bagaimana pendidikan tinggi dapat menjembatani teori dan praktik melalui pembelajaran berbasis pengalaman riset. Kolaborasi dengan universitas dan lembaga riset nasional seperti BRIN menjadi langkah strategis untuk memperkuat kompetensi mahasiswa dan mendorong relevansi hasil riset dengan kebutuhan industri dan masyarakat,” jelas Prof. Masturi. Ia menegaskan bahwa kegiatan semacam ini sejalan dengan arah pengembangan kurikulum Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM), sekaligus mendukung upaya pencapaian pendidikan berkualitas (SDG 4) dan kemitraan untuk tujuan bersama (SDG 17).
