Semarang, 30 Juni 2025 – Mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Fisika Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), Elsa Destiana, sukses melaksanakan ujian skripsi secara hybrid dengan judul “Pengembangan Bahan Ajar Digital Berbasis Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI) untuk Meningkatkan Keterampilan Berpikir Kritis pada Topik Suhu dan Kalor.” Ujian ini menghadirkan dua penguji, yaitu Puan Zulinda Ayu Zulkipli, M.Ed dari Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia sebagai penguji eksternal yang hadir secara daring, dan Dr. Langlang Handayani, M.App.Sc. dari UNNES sebagai penguji internal yang hadir langsung di kampus.

Dalam sidang tersebut, Puan Zulinda memberikan apresiasi tinggi atas kepedulian Elsa dalam mengangkat isu-isu viral yang ramai diperbincangkan di media sosial sebagai konteks pembelajaran. Ia menilai pendekatan ini sangat efektif untuk menjembatani konsep suhu dan kalor dengan realitas yang dekat dengan kehidupan siswa, khususnya generasi Z yang akrab dengan teknologi digital. Selain itu, Puan Zulinda juga mendorong agar pengembangan bahan ajar ini diintegrasikan lebih eksplisit dengan kerangka Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) dan Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), karena substansi riset Elsa menunjukkan keterkaitan yang kuat dengan kedua konsep tersebut.

Dr. Langlang Handayani menambahkan pentingnya menyertakan isu-isu lokal dari lingkungan sekolah dalam bahan ajar yang dikembangkan. Hal ini dinilai akan memperkaya pengalaman belajar siswa sekaligus menumbuhkan kepekaan sosial serta kemampuan mengambil keputusan berbasis sains terhadap masalah di sekitar mereka.

Skripsi ini dibimbing oleh Dr. Ellianawati, M.Sc. dan merupakan bagian dari riset payung yang memperoleh pendanaan dari DPA UNNES dalam skema Matching Grant. Hasil penelitian Elsa juga memberikan kontribusi pada program kerja Pusat Unggulan Iptek (PUI) Ramah Anak UNNES, di mana Dr. Ellianawati terlibat aktif sebagai salah satu anggota tim.

Dengan pendekatan berbasis SSI yang kontekstual dan media pembelajaran digital yang sesuai karakteristik peserta didik saat ini, penelitian Elsa diharapkan menjadi inspirasi dalam pengembangan bahan ajar yang tidak hanya meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis, tetapi juga memperkuat nilai-nilai keberlanjutan dan tanggung jawab sosial di kalangan pelajar.
