MATHRIA, Game Edukatif UNNES Dorong Pembelajaran Matematika Kontekstual

Tim Program Kreativitas Mahasiswa Bidang Riset dan Sosial Humaniora (PKM-RSH) Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) menghadirkan inovasi pembelajaran kreatif melalui pengembangan media berbasis permainan edukatif bernama MATHRIA: Mathematics Role Playing Game Adventure.

Inovasi ini merupakan bentuk kontribusi UNNES dalam meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran matematika berbasis STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) yang kontekstual dengan kehidupan masyarakat pedesaan Indonesia.

Pengembangan MATHRIA berangkat dari tantangan yang dihadapi dunia pendidikan, di mana pembelajaran matematika kerap dianggap abstrak dan membosankan. Melalui integrasi pendekatan game-based learning, narasi petualangan, dan konteks sosial pedesaan, MATHRIA dirancang untuk menjembatani kesenjangan antara teori dan praktik serta menumbuhkan kecintaan siswa terhadap matematika dan kearifan lokal Indonesia.

Program ini dikembangkan oleh mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika dan Program Sarjana Sistem Informasi, dengan ketua tim Rafi Rahmatulloh, dengan anggota tim Muhammad Rafi’ul Annam, Tsabitul Azmi, Salsa Bila Titiana, dan Elisa Mutiara Fatmadewi.

Mereka dibimbing oleh Adi Satrio Ardiansyah, S.Pd., M.Pd.

Rafi menjelaskan bahwa MATHRIA merupakan game petualangan edukatif yang membawa pemain ke dunia virtual pedesaan Indonesia. Dalam permainan, siswa berperan sebagai karakter utama yang harus menyelesaikan berbagai misi dan tantangan berbasis materi matematika, khususnya materi himpunan. Setiap tantangan dikaitkan dengan aktivitas masyarakat desa seperti berdagang di pasar, mengelola lahan pertanian, hingga merancang sistem irigasi sederhana.

“Setiap misi dalam MATHRIA mengandung unsur STEM, yang mendorong siswa untuk mengasah kemampuan berpikir matematis sekaligus memahami penerapan sains dan teknologi dalam kehidupan nyata.” ungkap Rafi.

Berdasarkan uji coba awal di SMP Negeri 23 Semarang, MATHRIA terbukti meningkatkan keterlibatan siswa selama proses belajar. Siswa menunjukkan antusiasme tinggi dan mampu memahami konsep himpunan dengan lebih konkret. Guru matematika juga memberikan respon positif, menilai MATHRIA sebagai media pembelajaran yang inovatif, relevan, dan aplikatif terhadap kehidupan sehari-hari.

Inovasi ini diharapkan menjadi model pembelajaran berkelanjutan yang dapat diadaptasi oleh sekolah-sekolah lain di Indonesia. Tim pengembang berencana mengembangkan versi lanjutan dengan materi yang lebih luas serta fitur interaktif tambahan, guna memperkuat dampak positif terhadap peningkatan literasi numerasi nasional.
