Mahasiswa Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) yang tergabung dalam Tim Program Kreativitas Mahasiswa Riset Sosial Humaniora (PKM-RSH) berhasil meneliti Sistem Maro pada Lahan Pertanian Berkelanjutan di Desa Tlawong dan mendapat pendanaan dari Kementrian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi (Kemendikbud Ristek).

Mereka adalah Annisa Ambarwati, Reza Ayu Kusuma, Windy Puji Astuti dari Pendidikan Akuntansi; dan Yoga Adi Pratama dari Pendidikan Matematika. Selama melakukan penlitian ini para mahasiswa dibawah bimbingan Nurdian Susilowati SPd MPd.

Annisa Ambarwati menyampaikan sistem maro merupakan sistem pembagian hasil dari penjualan hasil pertanian antara petani pemilik dan petani penggarap dengan rasio pembagiannya ½ : ½.

“Terdapat ciri khas yang membedakan sistem maro di Desa Tlawong dengan Desa lain yakni hak dan kewajiban petani penggarap menanggung seluruh biaya pengelolaan serta memiliki kuasa penuh terhadap jenis tanaman yang akan ditanam, sedangkan petani pemilik membatu membeli pupuk dengan menggunakan kartu tani dan membayar pajak,” jelas Annisa.

Sementara Reza Ayu, menjelaskan dengan penggunaan sistem maro ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat desa khususnya para petani.

“Dalam mengelola sawahnya para petani menggunakan pupuk organik yang mereka buat sendiri menggunakan bahan-bahan sisa makanan dengan ditambahkan katalis, sehingga mereka dapat menekan biaya pengelolaan lahannya,” jelasnya.

Tim ini berharap bahwa model sistem maro ini dapat di terapkan di desa lain guna untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat khususnya para petani.

Model sistem maro ini memiliki keunggulan yakni pada saat musim hama, para penggarap yang melakukan sistem sewa akan mengalami kerugian karena sudah menghabiskan modal yang cukup banyak, seperti untuk sewa lahan dan juga biaya pengelolaannya sedangkan pada sistem maro dapat mengcover seluruh biaya yang dikeluarkan oleh para petani serta apabila rugi akan ditanggung bersam-sama.

Untuk dapat mengcover biaya tersebut juga tidak terlepas dari penerapan pertanian berkelanjutan yakni dengan menggunakan pupuk organik. Disamping itu juga ketika hama tikus merebak para petani di Desa Tlawong bergotong royong untuk membasmi tikus ini secara bersama, kegiatan ini biasanya disebut “Gropyokan”.
