Jadilah Mahasiswa Cerdas dan Peduli Masyarakat

“Mahasiswa yang cerdas bukan hanya mereka yang memunyai IPK 4,00. Tetapi lebih dari itu, mereka yang peduli terhadap masalah yang terjadi di masyarakat dan turut serta dalam pemecahan masalah tersebut,” ujar Dra Myra Diarsi MA dalam Seminar Nasional Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa Fakultas Ilmu Sosial (BEM FIS), Rabu (27/11).

Selain itu, seorang mahasiswa hendaknya memiliki karakter yang kuat agar tidak mudah terpengaruh budaya negatif yang berkembang saat ini. Menjadi pahlawan tidaklah harus menjadi seseorang yang mendapat bintang jasa atu dikenal sebagai pahlawan oleh orang lan. “Menjadi pahlawan bisa dilakukan dengan mengoptimalkan kemampuan dan rela berkorban untuk kepentingan orang banyak,” tambah Myra.

Seminar dengan tema “Revitalisasi Jiwa-jiwa Kepahlawanan Masa Kini” berlangsung di Grha Cendekia Fakultas Teknik Universitas Negeri Semarang (FT Unnes). Hadir dalam acara tersebut Dekan FIS Unnes Dr Subagyo MPd dan Romadi MHum, pendamping BEM FIS.

Drs Kuncoro Himawan MSi, Kepala Badan Kesatuan Bangsa dan Politik Kota Semarang juga menyampaikan karakter-karakter baik yang perlu dipupuk mahasiswa. Dia mengatakan, globalisasi saat ini tidak untuk dipersalahkan. “Tetapi hendaknya kita menjadikan hal tersebut sebagai motivasi untuk lebih bisa selektif dalam memilih budaya yang sesuai dan lebih kompetitif agar tidak kalah dengan negara lain.”

    saya rasa, perspepsi kita untuk “mahasiswa cerdas” masih akan melulu diukur melalui IPK jika kita tidak memperbaiki metode pembelajaran kita di kampus tercinta ini. coba tengok kanan-kiri, kita masih terus menggenjot untuk peningkatan akademis tapi disisi lain, pengbdian kita pada masyarakat masih sangat kurang, coba lihat sekitar Unnes aja deh. *celingak-celinguk. tapi semoga ini bisa menjadikan kampus kita lebih baik
