MAHAPALA UNNES Raih Juara 2 Dalam Kejuaraan Orienteering Nasional

Ayunita Pangesti, mahasiswa Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) yang tergabung dalam Unit Kegiatan Mahasiswa (UKM) Mahapala UNNES berhasil menyabet medali dalam kejuaraan orienteering nasional bertajuk Tegal Orienteering Race 2024. 

Tegal Orienteering Race merupakan kejuaraan orienteering nasional yang diselenggarakan oleh Federasi Orienteering Nasional Indonesia (FONI) Kabupaten Tegal pada Minggu (26/5) di Kawasan Hutan Pinus Obyek Wisata Guci dan jalur pendakian Gunung Slamet dalam rangka Hari Jadi ke-423 Kabupaten Tegal. Kejuaraan ini merupakan kali kedua diselenggarakan dimana diikuti oleh 157 peserta dari kalangan TNI, Mapala dan peserta yang berasal dari Banten, Jakarta, Jawa Barat, Jawa Tengah, Jawa Timur.

Orienteering sendiri adalah olahraga yang melibatkan pencarian sejumlah lokasi di medan dengan menggunakan peta dan kompas. Lokasi-lokasi ini dikenal sebagai titik kontrol. Peserta orienteering, yang disebut orienteer, harus memiliki keterampilan navigasi yang baik untuk menemukan rute terbaik dari titik start, melalui titik-titik kontrol, dan sampai di titik finish. Keunikan dari olahraga ini adalah bagaimana kemampuan peserta dalam menemukan rute tercepat menuju titik kontrol.

Dalam event Tegal Orienting Race 2024, terdapat beberapa kelompok umur yang terbagi dari U15, U18, U20, U21 untuk putra dan putri. Ayunita berhasil meraih juara dua pada kategori U-20 Putri.  Juara 1 kategori U-20 berhasil diraih oleh atlet Stapala PKN STAN dan juara 3 diisi oleh atlet Sabdapala Poltekkes Semarang.

“Saya tidak menyangka dapat meraih juara 2 dalam kejuaraan nasional orienteering ini, karena saya baru pertama kali ikut kejuaraan orienteering nasional. Medan yang saya lalui dalam kejuaraan ini pun berbeda dengan yang saya lalui saat berlatih. Ini menjadi pengalaman baru bagi saya. Saya mengucapkan terima kasih kepada teman-teman dari MAHAPALA UNNES yang telah memberikan support dalam kejuaraan ini,” ungkap Ayunita.

Ayunita yang sedang menempuh pendidikan di jurusan Geografi UNNES sadar bahwa posisi juara yang didapatkannya kali ini adalah hasil dari jerih payah latihannya yang disiplin. Ia juga tiada henti berlatih untuk tetap meningkatkan kemampuannya agar siap menghadapi kejuaraan-kejuaraan selanjutnya.
