Mahapala Unnes Juara II Nasional Wana Lestari

Mahasiswa Pecinta Alam (Mahapala) Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes) meraih juara II pada lomba Wana Lestari 2014 tingkat nasional yang diselenggarakan oleh Kementerian Kehutanan di Jakarta.

Ketua Mahapala Unnes Muhammad Syaefudin menyampaikan, lomba Wana Lestari merupakan penghargaan yang diberikan Kementerian Kehutanan kepada masyarakat atas peranannya dalam pembangunan Kehutanan Indonesia.

Menurut Syaefudin, lomba itu dilaksanakan tiap tahun merupakan ajang bagi semua elemen untuk saling bertukar pengalaman dan berbagi ilmu.

“Alhamdulillah,” katanya bersyukur, “Tahun 2014 ini Mahapala Unnes berhasil memperoleh Juara II tingkat Nasional kategori Kelompok Pencinta Alam. Setelah sebelumnya berhasil menjadi juara I tingkat provinsi Jawa Tengah, juga kategori Kelompok Pencinta Alam.”

Syaefudin menjelaskan, mekanisme perlombaan ini bagus yakni peserta diseleksi dulu di tingkat provinsi. Hanya juara I dari masing – masing provinsilah yang berhak maju ke tingkat Nasional. Di tingkat Nasional pun, jelas Syaefudin, masih di seleksi lagi untuk dipilih 6 terbaik dari seluruh Indonesia.

Ia menyampaikan, setelah melewati 4 bulan masa penilaian, puncak kegiatan berlangsung selama lima hari dari 15 sampai 19 Agustus di Jakarta dengan peserta berjumlah 279 orang dari semua kategori lomba.

Selama lima hari itu, papar Syaefudin, semua peserta mengikuti serangkaian kegiatan Kementrian Kehutanan diantaranya upacara pembukaan, sharing pengalaman, menghadiri upacara detik – detik proklamasi 17 Agustus di Istana Negara, silaturahmi dengan Presiden Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), dan penganugerahan oleh Menteri Kehutanan.

“Saya merasa senang bisa membawa nama harum Unnes dan Mahapala ke tingkat nasional dalam ajang yang berkaitan dengan konservasi. Selain itu saya punya kebanggan tersendiri karena bisa bertemu langsung dengan Presiden SBY,” pungkasnya.
