Semarang, Indonesia — On Tuesday, September 9, 2025, Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), through its Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), hosted a workshop titled Building Collaboration Between Universities and Industry to Create an Impactful Campus. The event was conducted in a hybrid format, combining online participation via Zoom Meeting and offline attendance at the Borobudur Room, 3rd floor of the LPPM UNNES building. The workshop was officially opened by Prof. Dr. R Benny Riyanto, S.H., M.Hum., CN., Chairman of LPPM UNNES, who delivered his remarks and inaugurated the session virtually.
The workshop featured three distinguished speakers from the industrial sector: Yoga Wisnu Wardani, S.T., M.M. (Branch Manager of BSI MT Haryono Semarang), Johan Kurniawan, S.T. (Operations Manager of PT PLN Indonesia Power UBP Semarang), and Fita Maulani (Public Policy & Government Relations Manager at PT Global Digital Niaga/Blibli and Secretary General of the Indonesian Internet of Things Association/ASIOTI). While Fita Maulani joined the session online, the other two speakers were present on-site.
Moderated by Dwi Gansar Santi Wijayanti, M.Pd., a lecturer at the Faculty of Sports Science UNNES, the discussion unfolded in an engaging and interactive manner. Participants enthusiastically posed questions and shared insights on potential collaborations between UNNES researchers and industry partners.
Yoga Wisnu Wardani highlighted the vast potential for growth in Indonesia’s Islamic banking sector, noting that financial literacy in this area stands at only 43.42%, with inclusion at a mere 13%. He emphasized the opportunity for universities to contribute meaningfully to this development. Johan Kurniawan outlined three concrete collaborative initiatives between PLN and UNNES: community empowerment, student competency enhancement through internship programs, and ongoing research and innovation. Meanwhile, Fita Maulani discussed the strategic use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) to boost efficiency in the digital industry and strengthen the national technology ecosystem.
Through this workshop, UNNES reaffirmed its commitment to expanding its network with the industrial world, aiming to foster innovation and impactful collaboration that contributes to national development. This initiative aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), notably SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
