Kata-kata itulah yang nampaknya patut disematkan pada mahasiswa KKN & PPL UNNES yang selama sebulan terakhir mengabdikan diri di Sekolah Indonesia Kota Kinabalu (SIKK) dan Community Learning Center (CLC) Cerdas, Penampang Kinabalu. Berkat dukungan dari SIKK dan Konsulate Jendral Republik Indonesia di Kinabalu, Sabah Malaysia, 17 mahasiswa UNNES dari berbagai prodi mendapatkan kesempatan tidak saja untuk mempraktekkan dan mengamalkan ilmu yang selama ini dipelajari di bangku kuliah tetapi juga untuk lebih “mengenal Indonesia”.

Hal tersebut sangat terasa terutama ketika mahasiswa melakukan pengabdian masyarakat di penampungan anak-anak pekerja migran Indonesia (PMI). Siswa SD dan SMP yang sebagian besar orang-tuanya bekerja sebagai buruh perkebunan kelapa sawit tersebut terlihat sangat antusias mengikuti program-program kerja mahasiswa KKN. Salah satu momen paling mengharukan terjadi saat anak-anak ditanya apa cita-cita mereka. Beragam jawaban muncul tapi yang paling banyak adalah “menjadi polis”. Alasannya bukan karena pekerjaan itu prestisius di mata mereka. Justru jawaban itu muncul dari alam bawah sadar anak-anak itu yang menyaksikan orang-tua mereka dikejar-kejar polis Diraja Malaysia karena tidak memiliki dokumen resmi.

Sungguh ironis melihat kenyataan di saat jutaan anak di kota-kota besar di Indonesia berlomba-lomba mengejar prestasi dengan berbagai fasilitas pendukung yang wah, ada puluhan ribu anak Indonesia di pedalaman Sabah Malaysia yang terlunta-lunta dan tidak memiliki akses pendidikan.

Kehadiran mahasiswa UNNES yang melaksanakan KKN dan PPL sangat berarti karena membawa ilmu pengetahuan dan hal-hal baru yang tidak didapatkan anak-anak itu selama ini. Pendidikan karakter, life skill, olah raga bela diri Pencak Silat, pengenalan budaya Indonesia (seni tari, dolanan dan lagu-lagu daerah) adalah sebagian kecil apa yang mahasiswa UNNES bagikan pada anak-anak tersebut.

Semoga program KKN dan PPL UNNES bisa membuka wawasan dan membangkitkan semangat anak-anak PMI tersebut untuk terus belajar dan berjuang mengejar cita-cita sehingga nasib mereka kelak lebih baik daripada orang tua mereka. Kalaupun harus menjadi WNI yang hidup di negeri orang, mudah-mudahan mereka menjadi pekerja yang terdidik, handal ataupun menjadi tenaga ahli, tidak seperti yang dialami orang tua mereka. (AY)
