Karakter Sains Sejalan dengan Bhinneka Tunggal Ika

Sains berperan sangat penting dalam segala aspek kehidupan manusia, karena itu sangat diperlukan oleh semua insan Indonesia dalam membentuk masyarakat yang berbudaya dan berkarakter. Hal ini disampaikan Prof. Dr. Liliasari, M.Pd Guru Besar Pendidikan IPA Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) Bandung pada Seminar Nasional Pendidikan IPA dengan tema “Membangun Masyarakat MELEK (literate) Sains yang Berbudaya dan Berkarakter Bangsa Melalui Pembelajaran Sains” di Gd C7 lantai 3 FIS Unnes, Sabtu (16/4).
Pembelajaran sains menurutnya bertanggung jawab atas literasi sains peserta didik, karena itu kualitas pembelajaran sains perlu ditingkatkan agar segera mencapai taraf pengembangan yang berkelanjutan. “Karakter sains juga sejalan dengan falsafah bangsa Indonesia Bhineka Tunggal Ika, maka belajar sains dapat sekaligus mengembangkan karakter bangsa dalam menghadapi persaingan global”.Tegas Prof Liliasari dihadapan 337 peserta seminar.

Sebagai pemakalah kedua, Moh. Masrofi. S.Sos, M.Si, Kepala Bidang Pengembangan Pegawai Badan Kepegawaian Daerah Propinsi Jawa Tengah, mengungkapkan bahwa masalah yang dihadapi guru saat ini karena adanya keberagaman kemampuan guru dalam proses pembelajaran dan penguasaan pengetahuan, belum adanya alat ukur yang akurat untuk mengetahui kemampuan guru, sehingga pembinaan yang dilakukan belum mencerminkan kebutuhan guru, ”kesejahteraan guru juga belum memadai”. Ungkapnya

Sedangkan Prof. Dr. Wiyanto, M.Si, Guru Besar IPA Unnes berpendapat bahwa hakekat pembelajaran sains adalah memfasilitasi siswa untuk menemukan sendiri konsep, prinsip, dan hukum-hukum alam lainnya, sehingga siswa dapat belajar sains seperti sains yang ditemukan oleh ilmuwan. “jika pembelajaran sains telah mampu membiasakan siswa bekerja ilmiah seperti yang biasa dilakukan oleh ilmuwan, maka dapat dikatakan pembelajaran sains tersebut telah berhasil dalam mengembangkan karakter siswa”. Katanya.

Seminar Nasional ini, menurut Ketua panitia Parmin, M.Pd dirancang sebagai ulang tahun kedua penyelenggaraan pendidikan IPA S1 FMIPA Unnes. “kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 337 peserta termasuk 65 pemakalah pendamping dari 17 perguruan tingi di 9 Propinsi seluruh Indonesia” kata Parmin yang juga sebagai Sekretaris Prodi Pendidikan IPA FMIPA Unnes.

  1. sepakat, apa yg dikatakan dosen sy Prof. Lili, literasi sains sejalan dg bhineka tunggal ika. tapi hal itu dikatakan benar bila benar2 ada impact (dampak) nyata terhadap masyarakat.
    exp: terjadi fenomena mati krn MIRAS OPLOSAN,
    fenomena ulat bulu, water cycler dll. bila masyarakat mengetaui akan ilmunya maka masalah tersebut kemungkinan bisa terhindarkan. buat apa siswa memperoleh nilai sains yg tinggi tp tdk menjadi SOLUSI masyarakat.
