Jurusan Geografi Unnes Abadikan Momen Gerhana Matahari Total

Pukul 06.30 WIB, matahari bersinar tampak lebih besar dari bentuk biasanya. Rabu, (9/3) momen langka Gerhana Matahari Total (GMT) ditunggu-tunggu dosen dan mahasiswa Jurusan Geografi Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes) di atas Gedung Serba Guna (GSG). Masyarakat sekitar Unnes dan mahasiswa lainnya pun tak kalah ramai menunggu untuk menyaksikan momen yang tidak setiap hari ada.

Sementara di Masjid Ulil Albab (MUA) terlihat saf jamaah yang sedang melaksanakan salat gerhana dilanjutkan dengan khutbah. Khutbah itu disampaikan oleh Suroso, dosen Geografi Unnes. Suroso menjelaskan tentang gambaran teoritis bagaimana terjadinya matahari total di depan jamaah.

“GMT terjadi ketika matahari, bulan dan bumi berada di satu garis lurus. Berdasarkan pergerakan bumi dan bulan, setidaknya dalam setahun bumi dan bulan dapat bertemu pada satu garis sejajar dapat terjadi sebanyak dua kali. Hanya saja lintasan bulan lebih tinggi 50 dibanding lintasan bumi. Ketiganya sejajar untuk bulan tepat menutupi matahari,” jelas Suroso.

Tak hanya di Semarang saja, delapan lokasi di Indonesia yang dapat menyaksikan fenomena langka ini yakni di Bengkulu, Sumatera Barat, Sumatera Selatan, Jambi, Bangka Belitung, Kalimantan Barat, Kalimantan Tengah, Kalimantan Selatan, Kalimantan Timur, Sulawesi Barat, Sulawesi Tengah dan Maluku Utara.

Semarang sendiri tidak termasuk daerah yang dilewati oleh GMT, melainkan gerhana matahari sebagian. Sekitar 84,48% bagian GMTyang dapat dilihat.

Pengamatan gerhana yang dilakukan oleh jurusan geografi ini menurut Suroso dimaksudkan agar mahasiswa dapat mengamati dan partik lapangan langsung dan membuktikan teori yang selama ini sudah dipelajari.

“Setelah pengamatan langsung di lapangan, dosen dan mahasiswa geografi akan melakukan kajian tentang GMT yang terjadi di Semarang dengan menggunakan beberapa acuan teori seperti konsep peredaran, lintasan eklip dan sebagainya. Gagasan ini akan disatukan dan rencana akan dibuat jurnal,” paparnya.

Unnes syukuri momen GMT dengan Kusufy Syamsi

Peristiwa GMT juga menjadi hal yang patut disyukuri sebagai wujud kebesaran Tuhan yang mencipta alam semesta. Bentuk kesyukuran itu salah satunya dilaksanakan dengan salat Kusufy Syamsi pukul 06.30 WIB di Masjid Ulul Albab (MUA) Unnes yang dipimpin Prof Dr H Masrukhi.

Prof Masrukhi dalam khutbahnya berpesan GMT merupakan fenomena alam sebagai tanda kebesaran Tuhan.

“Sebagai makhluk Tuhan manusia hendaknya menggunakan akalnya untuk berpikir. Hanya orang-orang yang berpikirlah yang mampu mengamati pergantian siang dan malam,” ujar Prof Masrukhi. (Eva/Ika)
