Ingin Berkarakter, Bangsa Harus Mandiri

Pakar pendidikan Indonesia, Darmaningtyas, mengungkapkan, bangsa yang berkarakter adalah bangsa yang mempunyai kemandirian.

“Kemandirian bukan hanya soal fisik, tetapi soal mental. Ciri dari bangsa yang mandiri antara lain teguh kepada pendirian sendiri dan tidak mudah tergantung dengan bangsa lain,” ujarnya, dalam Kuliah Umum Kepemudaan, di Auditorium Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes), Sabtu (9/11).

Akan tetapi, menurutnya, di Indonesia terdapat fenomena bahwa semakin tinggi pendidikan, semakin rendah kemandirian dan semangat kewirausahaannya. “Maka perlu adanya suatu usaha untuk mengubah mindset tentang kehidupan,” katanya.

Kuliah umum yang mengangkat tema “Pemuda sebagai Inisiator Penggerak Indonesia Emas 2045” diadakan dalam rangka Closing September MIPA 2013. Acara ini diadakan oleh Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (FMIPA) Unnes sebagai penutup serangkaian kegiatan September MIPA dalam rangka Dies Natalis FMIPA ke-48.

Hadir dalam acara tersebut Drs Nur Hadi Amiyanto Med, Kepala Dinas Pendidikan Provinsi Jawa Tengah yang mewakili Gubernur Jawa Tengah Ganjar Pranowo sebagai pembicara kedua. Acara diikuti oleh mahasiswa dari Unnes dan universitas lain. Kegiatan dibuka langsung oleh Rektor Unnes Prof Fathur Rokhman MHum.

Sebagai penutup, Darmaningtyas mengutip kalimat dari Moh Hatta, yaitu, “Hanya suatu bangsa yang telah menyingkirkan perasaan tergantung saja yang tidak takut akan hari depan. Hanya suatu bangsa yang paham akan harga dirinya maka cakrawalanya akan terang benderang”.
