Himpunan Mahasiswa Profesi Teknik Kimia UNNES Berhasil Manfaatkan Limbah Mangrove Jadi Pewarnaan Batik dan Raih Penghargaan LEPRID

Himpunan Mahasiswa Profesi Teknik Kimia (HMPTK) Fakultas Teknik Universitas Negeri Semarang (FT UNNES) berhasil memanfaatkan limbah mangrove menjadi pewarnaan batik.

Berkat inovasi tersebut, Himpunan Mahasiswa Profesi Teknik Kimia FT UNNES berhasil menerima dana hibah Program Holistik Pembinaan dan Pemberdayaan Desa (PHP2D) tahun 2021 dari Kemendikbud Ristek.

Tasya Larasati Dwi E selaku Ketua HMPTK mengatakan pemanfaatan limbah mangrove ini dilatarbelakangi oleh banyaknya serasah dari mangrove yang berserakan, seperti daun dan buah yang jatuh dari pohon, tanaman mangrove yang mati, kotornya lahan penanaman, di wilayah Ekowisata Mangrove Kelurahan Manginharjo, Tugu, Semarang.

“Sehingga, untuk meminimalisasi sampah tersebut, kami dari HMPTK berinisiatif untuk menjadikan sampah tersebut menjadi menjadi pewarna alami yang nantinya akan digunakan dalam pewarnaan batik dari motif batik cap Mangrove UMKM Srikandi, Mangunharjo, Tugu Semarang,” jelas Ketua HMPTK.

Selain itu, Himpunan Mahasiswa Profesi Teknik Kimia juga berhasil meraih rekor dari Lembaga Prestasi Indonesia Dunia (LEPRID) yakni membatik Cap Motif Alam dengan Pewarna Mangrove Alam dari Limbah Mangrove menggunakan kain Primisima FF sepanjang 372 yard atau sekitar 328,17 meter dengan menggunakan batik cap yang merupakan perpaduan cap motif Mangrove dari UMKM Srikandi Kelurahan Mangunharjo, Tugu, Semarang.

Keunikan dari batik ini selain perpaduan capnya adalah pewarnanya berasal dari bahan alam, limbah mangrove yang diolah sendiri untuk mendapatkan ekstrak warna alami yang digunakan dalam pewarnaan batik. Warna yang akan terlihat pada batik yang akan dihasilkan berwarna cokelat tua dan putih dari warna asli kainnya.

Untuk memaksimalkan kegiatan ini, HMPTK mengajak kolaborasi dengan HIMPRO PKK yang lebih expert atau ahli di bidangnya untuk membranding produk batik mangrove dari Kelurahan Mangunharjo, Tugu, Semarang dengan pewarna alam dari serasah mangrove.

Rektor UNNES Prof Dr Fathur Rokhman MHum mengapresiasi inovasi yang dilakukan Himpunan Mahasiswa Profesi Teknik Kimia.

Lebih lanjut, Prof Fathur mengatakan perkembangan teknologi yang semakin maju mendorong mahasiswa untuk lebih kreatif, inovatif, dan mampu meningkatkan mutu yang berkualitas, pungkasnya.
