The Faculty of Engineering, UNNES, successfully held the 14th EIC and 7th VEIC on September 17, 2025, in a hybrid format. These international conferences are held annually, and this year’s themes closely related to the SDGs.

The 14th EIC (Engineering International Conference) was themed “Achieving Sustainability through Digital Transformation and Technology Development” and the 7th VEIC (Vocational Education International Conference) “Future Challenges of Smart Teaching and Learning in Vocational Education”.

The 14th EIC and 7th VEIC were officially opened by UNNES Rector Prof. Dr. S. Martono, M.Si., represented by University Secretary Prof. Dr. Sugianto, M.Si., with the opening video screening of the 14th EIC and 7th VEIC.

In his remarks, Prof. Dr. Sugianto, M.Si., conveyed:

It is a great pleasure and honor for me to welcome you to Universitas Negeri Semarang on the occasion of two significant academic events:

  • The 14th International Engineering Conference (EIC 2025), and
  • The 7th Vocational Education International Conference (VEIC 2025).

UNNES carries the vision “To Become a World-class Reputable University, Pioneer of Excellence in Education with Conservation Perspective.” As a Conservation University, we are committed to promoting sustainability through education, research, and innovation. This vision is in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), where higher education plays a crucial role in addressing global challenges.

These two conferences reflect our shared academic mission. EIC 2025 focuses on the contribution of engineering and technology to sustainability, while VEIC 2025 explores the Future Challenges of Smart Teaching and Learning in Vocational Education. Together, they provide important platforms for collaboration, dialogue, and knowledge sharing across disciplines.

I extend my appreciation to the Faculty of Engineering for hosting these events, to the organizing committees for their dedication, and to all deans, directors, and institutional leaders of Universitas Negeri Semarang for their continuous support in advancing cross-disciplinary collaboration.

With this, I warmly welcome you all, and I officially open The 14th International Engineering Conference (EIC 2025) and The 7th Vocational Education International Conference (VEIC 2025).

On a different occasion, the Dean of FT UNNES Prof. Dr. Wirawan Sumbodo, M.T. also said:

On behalf of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Semarang, I am delighted to welcome you to two prestigious international conferences:

  • The 14th International Engineering Conference (EIC 2025), and
  • The 7th Vocational Education International Conference (VEIC 2025).

Both conferences are held in a hybrid format on September 17th, 2025.

The theme of EIC 2025 is “Achieving Sustainability through Digital Transformation and Technology Development.” This theme reflects our effort to integrate engineering and technology innovations for a sustainable future.

We are honored to have distinguished keynote speakers for EIC 2025:

  • Prof. Dr. Rifky Ismail, Diponegoro University, Indonesia
  • Achmad Yanuar Maulana, Ph.D., Dong-A University, South Korea
  • Petar Žuvela, Ph.D. National University of Singapore

Meanwhile, VEIC 2025 carries the theme “Future Challenges of Smart Teaching and Learning in Vocational Education.” This conference provides a platform to address issues and challenges in vocational education and to shape its future through innovation.

We proudly welcome keynote speakers for VEIC 2025:

  • Ts. Dr. Mohd. Shafie Bakar, Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah
  • Dr. Kristóf Fenyvesi, University of Jyväskylä, Finland

These two conferences together demonstrate our faculty’s commitment to advancing both engineering and vocational education in harmony with global trends and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the organizing committees, the scientific committees, the reviewers, and our collaboration partners for their dedication.

I hope that all participants will benefit from the discussions, establish meaningful collaborations, and be inspired to continue contributing to innovation and sustainability.

The 14th EIC and 7th VEIC continued with a main session featuring three keynote speakers from the EIC and two keynote speakers from the VEIC, with certificates awarded to international conference presenters at the end. The session continued with a parallel session for participants of the 14th EIC and 7th VEIC in a hybrid format.

The awards were presented directly by Rusiyanto, S.Pd., M.T., Vice Dean for Business, Research, and Cooperation, Faculty of Engineering, UNNES.

And at the end of the session, the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Dr.-Ing. Dhidik Prastiyanto, S.T., M.T., delivered his closing remarks:

On behalf of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Semarang, I would like to express my heartfelt congratulations on the successful completion of The 14th International Engineering Conference (EIC 2025) and The 7th Vocational Education International Conference (VEIC 2025).

The discussions we have had under the theme of EIC 2025: Achieving Sustainability through Digital Transformation and Technology Development and VEIC 2025: Future Challenges of Smart Teaching and Learning in Vocational Education have provided valuable insights, broadened perspectives, and strengthened academic and professional networks.

The keynote lectures and presentations from distinguished experts have enriched our understanding of the crucial roles of engineering, technology, and vocational education in facing global challenges.

I sincerely thank all committees, scientific reviewers, and our collaboration partners for their tireless efforts in preparing these events. I also deeply appreciate the contributions of all participants who have actively engaged in the sessions.

I hope that the knowledge and connections established during these conferences will grow into impactful collaborations and real contributions to sustainability and educational innovation.

With this, I officially declare The 14th International Engineering Conference (EIC 2025) and The 7th Vocational Education International Conference (VEIC 2025) closed.

The leadership of UNNES and the Faculty of Engineering UNNES as well as the entire committee of the 14th EIC and 7th VEIC expressed their highest appreciation to the keynote speakers and participants of the international conference. The implementation of the 14th EIC and 7th VEIC also had a positive impact on the advancement of university innovation and supported several international achievements, in line with UNNES’s vision of a World-Reputed University and improving faculty competency in contributing SDGs points. Hopefully in the following year we will still be given the opportunity to meet again at the 15th EIC and 8th VEIC international conferences, which are expected to be held in Faculty of Engineering, UNNES.
