The Electrical Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Semarang State University (UNNES), has established a strategic partnership with PT Pertamina Retail, which was realized through the signing of a collaboration agreement and the distribution of two electric motorcycles as part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) assistance. This assistance is intended to support student research activities, particularly in the field of new and renewable energy, as well as to support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
This collaboration agreement covers three key points: research collaboration between lecturers and students at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, UNNES; a student internship program at PT Pertamina Retail; and the involvement of lecturers in industry to provide direct insights from the workplace into the classroom. The entire series of activities was agreed upon through a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on the CSR ESA (Energy Sustainability Academy) of PT Pertamina Retail, held on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at the COCO 41.502.02 Sultan Agung Semarang gas station, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Western Indonesian Time.
The FGD was attended by the leadership of PT Pertamina Retail, the Coordinator of the Electrical Engineering Study Program at UNNES, Nur Iksan, S.T., M.Kom., Prof. Dr. Djoko Adi Widodo, M.T. (Professor of New and Renewable Energy), Prof. Dr. Ir. Subiyanto, S.T., M.T. (Professor of Intelligent Systems), final project supervisors Syahroni Hidayat, S.T., M.Eng., and Abdurrakhman Hamid Al-Azhari, S.T., M.T., and 25 UNNES Electrical Engineering students. During the presentation session, Prof. Dr. Djoko Adi Widodo presented the development of new and renewable energy technologies relevant to future needs.

The event culminated in the signing of a memorandum of understanding and the symbolic handover of two electric motorcycles from PT Pertamina Retail to the Electrical Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES). These electric motorcycles will be used by students as research tools in developing environmentally friendly transportation technologies, including research into drive systems, battery management, and integration with renewable energy sources.
The Dean of Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), Prof. Dr. Wirawan Sumbodo, M.T., expressed his appreciation for the collaboration. He expressed his hope that this collaboration will enable students to continue honing their innovative and creative ideas and implement them in the workplace. He hopes this collaboration will continue and be sustainable, preparing high-quality engineering graduates who are ready to work both domestically and internationally.

This assistance demonstrates PT Pertamina Retail’s commitment to encouraging clean technology innovation and supporting higher education in Indonesia. With this research facility, it is hoped that UNNES Electrical Engineering students will be increasingly motivated to produce innovative work that will have an impact on the development of green energy technology, while contributing to the SDG targets at the national and global levels.
