The Family Welfare Education Study Group, Faculty of Engineering, UNNES successfully held the Gelar Karya 2025 with the theme “Shaping The Future of Global Creativity” on May 28, 2025 at the Prof. Wuryanto Auditorium Building, UNNES. The activity was attended directly by the Chancellor of UNNES, Prof. Dr. S Martono, M.Sc. and his staff, the Secretary of the Mayor of Semarang and the Dean of FT UNNES, Prof. Dr. Wirawan Sumbodo, M.T. as well as lecturers and students of FT UNNES with their parents.

The Gelar Karya is a compulsory course from the Family Welfare Education study group which has been implemented every year as a requirement for graduating from the course, 4 study programs from the PKK Group include the Family Welfare Education study program, Culinary Arts Education, Beauty Arts Education, and Fashion Arts Education.

The Chancellor of UNNES in his speech gave direction so that in the future, Gelar Karya can replace the thesis, where students are required to write it in the form of a thesis manuscript. The goal is to accelerate the study period of students in the PKK study program group, and they can graduate on time (8 semesters). The event also has a positive impact on the community around UNNES, in line with the goals of KEMDIKTISAINTEK BERDAMPAK. In this case, UNNES is ready to expand its scale to a global scale through Gelar Karya which displays art products from students of the UNNES Faculty of Engineering so that they are better known to the global community. Thus, it can realize UNNES’ vision, namely a World-Reputed University.

Dean of the UNNES Faculty of Engineering Prof. Dr. Wirawan Sumbodo, M.T. in his speech also said that Gelar Karya is the peak event of the works of students in the PKK study program group, where they gather and discuss to provide their best works. This activity is also inseparable from the role of the community to partner and sponsor Gelar Karya which runs successfully and smoothly. The Dean of FT UNNES also added that in the future, the activity can partner with foreign partners, so that UNNES’ Vision can be achieved, namely a World-Reputable University.

The Gelar Karya activity is included in SDG 4, namely, Quality Education. Considering that the Gelar Karya activity is one of the compulsory courses of the family welfare education study program, students are required to produce their best works for the course. Gelar Karya also provides an opportunity for students to think creatively and innovatively, which can later be used as their soft skills when entering the world of work.

Gelar Karya activities are also included in SDG 9 with Sustainable Development Goal 9 (TPB) focusing on “Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure”. Encouraging sustainable and inclusive industrial growth, by paying attention to environmental and social impacts. Sustainable industrialization creates jobs, increases income, and drives economic growth. Innovation helps increase productivity, improve product quality, and create new solutions to global problems.
